Figured I'd change the normal S&T of people & their cards up a bit & show off my jersey collection. Nothing I've seriously tried to put together, but just ones I've really wanted over the years.
First...I'll start off with the first jersey I ever bought at my first Dallas Stars game from the Dec. 4th, 2002 Stars vs. Canadiens. This was the first game a hat trick was ever scored in the new American Airlines Center by Jason Arnott. The Stars won 5-1. My favorite player other than Mike Modano was Jere Lehtinen...by far my pick as the best 2 way player in the game (...he did win 3 Selke awards in his career). Although the chest logo is an iron on patch...everything else is stitched & this was a $180 buy at the time.
Next is the 2nd Stars jersey i ever bought...Captain Brenden Morrow. At the time i bought this he was in one of the top scoring lines in the league along with Mike Ribiero & Jere Lehtinen.
This jersey is one of my fav's of the collection. I got this off of ebay for $90. Everything was customized on it. This was the 2000 All-Star jersey of Mike Modano...the year after they won the Cup. This was one of the few jersey's you'll ever see Mo' wear any number other than his #9 (i believe Pavel Bure was on the same team & he let him wear the #9). I've worn this jersey to a few Stars' games & every time I go I always have someone ask me what jersey this was of Mike's. I have never seen anyone else wear this jersey at any other game i've attended (even Mo's 1000 points ceremony night) & i've been to maybe a dozen games or so.
Next is a jersey i wanted just because he's always in the top 10 in scoring every year. I know most people don't like the Russian guy's...but this guy does have skills & it's a shame everyone has such a hard on for Sidney Crosby. Geno deserves more credit than he gets sometimes. When he's on fire he can't be stopped. $50 BNWT on ebay is always worth it.
This is my most favorite of my collection...not to mention my favorite player in the game. He's the future of this club. This year's Art Ross trophy is proof of his skills. I'm sure the hockey scouts wouldn't have drafted him 129th if they'd had known he was going to be this good. He could've easily been a top 3-5 pick. The design of this jersey is awesome. Now i just need to get it autographed.
If there is an American born player to catch Mike Modano for the all-time scoring lead...this guy should be the one to do it. Patrick Kane is such an awesome player. he's in my top 3 favorite players list. Its a shame collectors don't value his cards as high as his teammate Toews...even though Kane is a much better player. This Stadium Series jersey is very nice with the black color & that Blackhawks logo coming alive. Another nice ebay $50 BNWT pickup!
Ovechkin...what else can you say about the guy. Tough to see them go out in the playoffs this year. I thought they had the Rangers' number this year. This is a must have for any serious collector. $43 BNWT on ebay...i always seem to find these deals!
Last...but not least...is my other favorite player Tyler Seguin. Amazing speed, sniper scoring...a top 10 scorer. If he'd had not been injured in the latter part of this season...he & Benn could've been 1-2 in scoring. One of the best trades Dallas has ever done! This jersey was a must have. I like the colors...& i wanted to get one with the cup patch on it. The person I got it from said it didn't have the fight strap when i first asked about it...but i wanted it anyways because of the Cup champs patch. After i won it on ebay ($40) they said it did indeed have the strap & asked if i wanted my money back. Very funny i told them! I'll have to get this one auto'd as well.
