finally getting a chance to post on this side of the HI boards, because it toook awhile to access my comic collection as it is buried in the basement beneath boxes and boxes of Star Wars action figures and diecast cars!i'll preface by saying i'm old,yes i admit it.when i was growing up in the early seventies there was no other love greater than that of the comic book.i LIVED for the monthly walk to the corner 5 & dime store to pick up the new issues of my faves.i lived vicariously through the Marvel legends.first and foremost was of course Spiderman. followed by the Fantastic Four,Iron Man,Daredevil,The Hulk,Nick Fury, etc.it was all Marvel for me when i was growing up,DC to me was just too "far fetched".i mean Superman could never be beat,he was friggin Superman!Marvel to me at the time represented real people who through happenstance became "super" in some way.and they always semmed to struggle with their identity like we as people were going through during our own pre-pubescence.that being said i picked a couple of key issues out of the top box of 500 ct. comics i have in the "tomb"(as my wife calls it).i have approximately 30 500 count boxes of comics from the early 60's through the 90's.i had complete runs of Spiderman,Daredevil,Iron Man,Fantastic Four and The Incredible Hulk at one time.however my first wife in the mid eighties became quite spiteful during divorce proceedings and swiped many key issues, including all my #1's from those series,i taught her too well on that fact,#1 issues are always worth the most.breaks my heart that they are gone(the comics,NOT her!)but such is life when you make mistakes, you pay.:|anyway, here are some of my faves from my collection.remember that the "collector" mentality didn't really come into society till the late '70's early 80's,so alot of these were stored in shoe boxes for years, there were no poly sleeves and backer boards around back then to preserve them.heck,i had a hard enough time rescuing these from my mom's garage sales and "clean up's" where they were almost gone forever!
first up,my beloved Spidey!

first appearnce of the Goblin,my fave villain of all.so glad this was #14,not a #1 or it would be gone too!
Save0149.jpg

first appearance of the Rhino,i love the cover art.heck if your going to have a first appearnce why not have him smash right through the front cover!
Save0150.jpg

another Rhino appearnce, for weaselking cause i know he likes'em!
Save0145.jpg

and the end of the Harry Osborne Goblin, farewell funny man!

Save0147.jpg

the FF car intro, not quite as cool as the Dodge version from the movie!
Save0146.jpg

wonder if Prince Namor will ever make an appearance in any of the Marvel movies??one can hope,he was very cool!
some Daredevil, one movie they really should do over minus Ben Afflek of course.

Save0153.jpg

theres Namor again,he was a stalwart in the 60's lines.first a villian but later a hero.
Save0154.jpg

one of my favorite covers of all time,Romita was king in the later part of the 60's!
one title i never got into and sure enough later regretted was the X-Men.just too many titles to follow at the time and i didn't have the time for "mutants".however the movies are some of the best comic generated films i've seen.this is the only one i ever picked up and still have it.
Save0156.jpg

actually thinking back,i thought Magneto was pretty cool!
a classic battle between the always misunderstood Hulk and Mr.Stark...
Save0155.jpg

the triumphant return of Steve Rogers, another character who needs a decent film representation...
Save0157.jpg

and finally from one of my fave titles,i was very excited to see the Samuel L.Jackson version pop up at the end of Iron Man,a very cool cover from "joltin" Jim Steranko...
Save0158.jpg

well thats it for now.if you guys have any faves from the past i may be able to show some pics, lmk who/what you would like to see.

Wow, those are some great books, and an even better story. Thanks for the Rhino covers, especially since they are both still on the list of issues to pick up! ;) The 1st app of Green Goblin is another.

Who cares about the CGC grading and lack of poly bags. As I mentioned in the "favorite age" thread, I prefer modern since I came in so late to the game, but there is absolutely a charm to and attraction toward older books from any age, in any condition. Especially iconic ones! :)

I've not seen the DD 16 before, but the cover is great with the city below and the perspetive.

Fantastic collection! If you ever wanted to get rid of some Daredevils I'd be very happy to try and work something out!

Really great seeing all those oldies. Sucks about the ex, but at least you got to keep a decent chunck.

Some nice stuff there. I love the covers of the old silver and Bronze age, they just suck me right in. Welcome aboard, I hope to see you add to our small comic community. It seems to be growing, slowly but at least its growing.
