Verified Trader,
Despite February being the shortest month of the year, I have a feeling not too many months are going to top it in terms of pickups for my PC this year.
On the Sedin front, a generous jersey numbered gift from bamlinden!
More jersey numbered goodness, including the 33/33 courtesy of a deal with Dominator.
Knocked off all the supremes from my want list, but this one definitely takes the cake as the nicest of the bunch!
Oddly I didn't find any of the key UD Series 1 needs until this month when all of them surfaced - both HG's and Patch x/15's (the Hank HG courtesy of a deal with 28matty28).
From last year's Ultimate Collection, had trouble finding even one of these sixes parallels, but scooped up both this Feb (the patch courtesy of a deal with rydlar99).
A bit surprised I've only seen one letter so far - last time UD put Sedin nameplates in The Cup one complete nameplate was packed out in a single tin, and I managed to piece together the other as singles. This time around only a single letter has surfaced so at least I can cross it off my main wantlist, but of course I'd love to find all the other letters too.
A kind gift from Chinner at the recent Bonsor show, a program from the game where Hank was honoured for his 1,000th career point.
Also at Bonsor, picked up this 1/1 from our very own OT Sports who had picked this goody up in a lot of Canucks cards. This completes all the 1/1's from 12-13 Limited (I now have both Danny and Hank base parallels, as well as both Manufacturer's Marks).
One last scoop for the Sedin PC - didn't take me long to hit the buy button when this beauty showed up on President's Choice's site
Getting harder to find 15-16 ITG Used Vintage Memorabilia cards, I'm chasing the full set of 88 silver cards, ranging in serial numbering from /2 to /12, down to 15 remaining thanks to these two pickups.
A nice Lalonde / Joliat dual from the 'bay.
And a gorgeous Sixes courtesy of a deal with Moose#11 who also kindly included a Sedin OPC Platinum x/10 as a bonus, much appreciated!
On to my third obsessions - UD Masterpieces! Every now and then I upgrade a black memorabilia card when I find a nicer swatch... this piece from the hilt of the sword was too nice to pass up!
And also knocked two cards off the wantlist towards the master set - a pair of x/5 autographs. What do these two guys have in common? Not so stellar late-in-their-career stints with the Vancouver Canucks
I'm also working on the older Masterpieces set from 08-09... a few nice Canvas Clippings jersey cards - down to just 5 to go for the set. Love the photo on the Vachon... and I'm also grateful for the Mikita - most cards I pick up are courtesy of ebay, so I tend to toss most of the envelopes / packing materials, but only realized later when I went to leave feedback that the Mikita was not an ebay win. Gomaz asked for my address not too long ago as a member had something to send me - I'm a bit embarassed I've been rather distracted with the newborn and didn't keep track if this was the item, if it was many thanks to the kind member who sent it my way (and if I horribly mixed things up and am confused and it was some other item, my apologies but I'm grateful for gesture!).
I also picked up 9 Brushtrokes in one fell swoop from a seller who was breaking up a complete (or maybe it was near-complete) set (albeit of a mix of colours of the rainbow). Still have around a dozen to go for the complete set, but some really nice additions amongst this batch - especially the Howe and Beliveau. I know I paid well over BV for these, but no regrets, these are some gorgeous cards.
Alright, nearing the end of the show - just a few Lord Stanley's Mug cards to wrap things up.
First up, my 20th Decades gold 1/1 - this one wasn't listed as a 1/1 and believe it was only on ebay.ca, so it came for quite the bargain. Still a long ways to go on this 120 card set, but a nice little milestone.
Next up, at the local Bonsor show in February, I wasn't originally planning to attend as little Henrik keeps me rather busy at home, but when I heard Bobby Hull was coming, well I just had to bring the replica cup I got as a redemption from Lord Stanley's Mug to get it signed, and the show photographer got a pretty nice pic of the Golden Jet with me and my little bundle of joy a few milliseconds before he burst into tears as he was not too impressed being put in the Cup (but hey, it was a great idea that Mr. Hull suggested and made for a pretty cool pic).
Pretty excited about this next card - excluding the Hoisting the Cup subset where Maurice Richard is the sole 1/1, I had at least one 1/1 from every other subset in the product except for the Cup Winning Goal subset. This fills that gap in my PC, and it's not just anyone but a nice vibrant red Maurice Richard swatch.
What can top a Rocket Richard 1/1? Well, not much, but I think this Lanny McDonald Mega Patch fits the bill. Not only is it a really gorgeous swatch, but also a real milestone card - the 44th Mega Patch I've managed to acquire taking me to exactly 40% of the 110 card set... I also have managed to find scans for another 33 cards as I like to collect the scans even if I might never own them all, for another 30%.
