Saw something on ESPN saying that both of Casey Kahne's wins this year were from the pole. Years ago, I remember watching the qualifying for a race and the commentators mentioning a million dollar bonus if the person who won the pole also won the race. Are such bonuses common for NEXTEL Cup races? If so, Casey must have even more $$$ to roll around in ;) Also, how common is winning from the pole? I guess it's like leading a golf tournament after the first round; it improves your chances somewhat, but since there are so many people in the field the absolute numerical benefit is quite small.

Forgive me for definitely being a greenhorn on the subject, but I do try to keep up a little bit... hey, I did buy a box of Press Pass Legends last year :D Anybody need a Kevin Harvick autograph /50? :)

I don't think you get a bonus anymore but I could be wrong. I believe you get a small bonus for leading at the halfway point and then going on to win. I will look this up and find out for sure.

Kasey Kahne is the only driver this year to win from the pole.

And last year only three drivers one from the pole and it happened four times.
Kahne, Stewart and Kenseth.
