Wow, sticky situation for the NBA. I can understand players, coaches and refs beating on other sports but refs beating on games they themselves are ref for YIKES:eek:

I just lost alot of respect for the league....damn it I say guilty and lets linch them. Screw going through an investigation lets hang them now:D No wonder the Spurs beat the Suns...its all rigged.

I'm not impressed as well with a referee betting on games that he is officiating.... The NBA had hired a PI to stake out his $500,000 house in FL. While he was there he was interviewing his neighbours. Asking about his gambling habits and whether or not he frequented the Brogata (sp) Casino in Atlantic City..

Although, on a bright note. They were doing a buncha interviews last night during a sports program. And most fans were outraged and were considering not going to any more NBA games..

This isn't good for the NBA at all. It makes you wonder about the outcomes of the championships or any other games for that matter.

I've always questioned many playoff series over the years because of the dumb calls or no-calls by the refs.

I remember back in '01 when Ray Allen was fined for saying that the NBA was rigged and a conspiracy because their game was pretty much given away by the refs against the 76ers in the Eastern Conference Finals. I remember he was talking about how the NBA didn't want to see a small-market team like the Bucks to play the Lakers for the NBA Finals.

That's all I got to say about that.

Over the past few days there has been a lot of key points made. One that stands out to me was refs who have/host charity events and invite elite players. It is rumoured that the refs would help these players out with foul calls...a sort of return favour/gesture. I guess now everything will draw spectulations and questions.

what's next??

As far as we know so far, there is only one ref really fixing games. There is always going to be star treatment going on in every pro sports league, and college for that matter. Like LeBron running over Jared Jefferies at half court in the playoffs a few years ago and the call going in his favor when it obviously shouldn't. It's just part of the sport and it's wrong. But, it will never change. This situation is a different story. This is more serious than star treatment. First off, it changes the outcome of games and maybe even some playoff series outcomes. Secondly, it's illegal on the federal level. I seriously doubt the NBA loses many fans over this. I mean, we fans root for the players not the refs. It sure isn't great for the image of the league. It seems like the world of sports isn't have a very good summer.

Each of the major sports seem to be having some problems with gambling. Last year Rick Tochett, this year a NBA ref, a few years ago Pete Rose and there are many other incidents including some football point shaving incidents. I guess as long as there is a chance to bet or cheat people will find a way to do it.

I guess we should focus on the positive and try to forget this stuff.

This was disappointing to hear. I watched on tv on ESPN yesterday the whole press conference David Stern gave to the media and he was very embarrased of what happened. As for the NBA losing fans out of this incident, it is highly unlikely imo since that the FBI is very heavily involved in this investigation of this particular incident. The NBA has been welcoming the FBI and other US Federal Authorities to come in and investigate this ongoing matter and the NBA plans to cooperate with their findings and all that. Now I see why Rasheed complained alot to the refs about bad calls they made last season. I wonder how many Pistons game that ref worked. As of right now this is an isolated case and the other refs have mentioned he worked alone on all of this and it seems highly doubtful any other refs were involved in all of this.
