Hi everyone, I got this Leclair card in a collection buy and was wondering if anyone had any information on it. It's from 1998-99 Upper Deck UD3 release. It's not serial numbered. It's the only copy of a die cut card like this I've seen from the set. I checked ebay and found nothing similar. As most of you 90's collectors know, the UD3 is a hard to follow set considering it had so many different subsets.

Sorry for the dark scan!

The die-cut corners look really cool! Man I miss the 90's.

Thanks

UD3 was a gigantic pain in the butt for the late nineties. And remember, this is a field that includes the ever-popular and -confusing Game-Dateds and Fractal Matrix. I'll dig a bit and see what I can come up with.

1998-99 UD3 Die-Cuts #56 John LeClair TR 1 copy Price N/A
1998-99 UD3 Die-Cuts #116 John LeClair TF 1000 copies $6.00
1998-99 UD3 Die-Cuts #176 John LeClair TE 100 copies $40.00

Is it one of these three cards?

Dave.

Holy crap you ain't kidding. The UD3 set is one of the most confusing sets ever if not THE most confusing. The Fractal Matrix I just figured out that set two weeks ago. I picked up the Kariya X or Y Axis gold die-cut thinking it was the stated print run /50 but turned out to be the /400. So confusing they're 99% identical.

Again, sorry for the poor pic guys I took it at home at an angle. I will try and scan it at work tomorrow to make things a little easier. Thanks!

HOLY MOLY do I have a 1/1???? It is #TR56!

It's not serial numbered though...???

Again like I said, I opened a ton of this stuff in 1998 and have seen singles at shows, ebay, HI, etc, and have NEVER seen a card cut like mine. My first thought was it had to be rare.

Sorry to burst your UD3 bubble on this but the fractal Matrix was in the Leaf set which was very confusing!

The card in question is pretty cool nonetheless. But I am pretty sure that all of the die-cut tier parallel cards are numbered. Beckett's yearly guide says that the 31-60 parallel is the "Three Star Spotlight Rainbow" and are "numbered 1 of 1." Of course, not priced due to rarity. If I remember correctly, my die-cuts have a dark foil instead of the gold which must mean they are the "light FX" version. I believe that the foil on the cards should have the rainbow iridescence. I have seen a couple of these in the past, but very few and only in the New Era subset. It did not have this die-cut.
