Now, normally when a new product comes out I buy a few boxes and sell off the stuff I think will make money, or that does not interest me. However, with The Cup I am totally perplexed with the values of the cards in the set. If I look at ebay, I can see that even really good rookies with half decent patches don't seem to sell very well. Yet the tins keep spiking in price???
Now I think everyone can agree that the RC's in The Cup are going to be the most valuable of any RC's of the 05-06 products. Yet why are they selling so low at the moment...?
My personal belief is that the majority of the hobby's cash flow (for high end collectors) is being spread thin, and that in a couple of months when 80%+ of the tins have dried up, the rookies will obtain their real value and sell for what I believe their real prices are.
But what really perplexes me is the better non-RC patch cards. What are they really worth? Beckett won't price alot of them because they're out of less than 25, and, in this case rightly so. To make matters worse, some of the swatches on the cards are phenominal, and others are as bland as can be.
*sigh*
I know that this is like any other new product, and that there is a 'feeling out' period for it, but The Cup is really throwing me off.
So I'd love to hear other's points of view on the subject.
Thanks.
