Mailed some bubbles to US today,Light packet with
CN22.Price Friday $2.65 + tax,price today $3.79 + tax
and apparently they are ramping up on returning Bubbles
to US without the light packet form. Weight limit increased
from 100g to 150g. Regular Bubbles to go up in Feb.
Up go the shipping prices.

Yup - I found out the same thing as well. It used to be $2.78 versus $3.79 here in BC. Good to know re: weight limit increase. Stamps don't go up til March 31st.

Man, these numbers are all Greek to me.

I am in Canada, and I ship in

Canada for 1.34
US for $2.20
Overseas for $4.34

What am I doing differently?

You're not getting the bubblers mailed at the PO with the customs forms and the hassle, you're just throwing them in the mailbox, which is what I usually do as well. Those are yesterdays rates for the mailbox, the new prices are today's rates at the PO.

And NY314NY says that they're gonna be looking for the customs forms on the bubblers.............

That's exactly what I've been paying, but I have a good relationship with the ladies at one particular Shoppers Drug Mart post office, and as far as they are corcerned is these small bubble envelopes are classed as paper, and I believe are classing them as over-sized letters? I'm guessing the other prices quoted in this thread are having the bubble mailers classed differently, and thus priced differently? Until they tell me differently, I'm gonna keep plunking them down on the desk, and have them send them regular mail at the price they quote me. When that changes, and it might I didn't mail today, I will adjust my shipping fees accordingly on my ebay stuff.

The rates posted were for light packet service which does come with having to fill out the oversized label with customs declaration.

I mailed a pile of stuff today as the usual oversized lettermail at the usual rates. No issues from the postal clerks at all and they know exactly what I send. Sportscards still do not fall into the unacceptable items list and can still go as regular letter mail as long as they meet the size/weight requirements. If you get a testy clerk get them to bring up the unacceptable items list for lettermail or go elsewhere.

I can't speak for spooner, but that is not at all what I do. Every single bubble mailer I send goes through one of the several post offices here that are set up in many Shoppers Drug Marts across the city. I have used 4, or 5 different locations, and the prices were exactly as he posted at every one. I will find out shortly if that has at all changed, but it seems like some places are considering these over-sized letters, and some consider them small packages? If I'm forced to fill out customs forms to US buyers, then that's what I'll do. You can get a stack of them, and fill them out at home. No big deal. If prices go up, then I'll have to charge more to US buyers. What can you do?

Consider yourselves lucky!!! It costs us $6.55 for a 1 oz. bubble out of the country. Really sucks not being able to do smaller trades with my Canadian friends anymore...customs forms ALWAYS required too.

Hope they don't go up too much for you guys,
Cam

I've always paid these prices as well with stamps. I've only ever had 2 going to the US come back and say more postage needed. I took them to the local post office they said no additional postage was needed and simply re-mailed them. They ended up being successfully delivered.

I've gone the PWE route with American traders. I've got two packages incoming and had one come in already. Not a problem so far. The reality is PWE's are doable for a few cards if you package properly - construction paper lining is perfect

But your $6.55 gets you tracking. The price increase in Canada is for a non-tracked service. Minimum cost to ship to the US with tracking is about $16. I would gladly pay $6.55 if it got me a tracking #.

We don't get a tracking number for $6.55... Have to send registered for $13. and yes I've been doing PWE for smaller trades and it's worked well so far.

There are members here who have sent me cards for $6.55 and when it arrives at my door, I have to pick it up from the PO and it involves tracking. I don't know how the service works, but I wish we had it here as well.

News to me. Just checked one of my post office receipts and the only number it has on there is the customs form #. 1 or 2 of my $6.55 packages has also been lost in the past year, and the post office basically told me I was SOL in terms of finding out where it ended up. I'd be interested to know what service that is as well...

Both these are true for me. The post office guy asked one day what was in the bubble mailer and I said a hockey card. He replied with "so it's a letter?" I looked confused and wondered what he was talking about and that's when he proceeded to explain the difference about letters and packages. So I now say it's a letter no matter what post office I go to. No forms and cheaper

paypal shipping labels are cheaper now... comes with tracking and $100 insurance i think.... cost me like $8 i think... guy at po said $15 to deliver the same bubble... i laughed and walked out.
