Hi ,I Just Received this for a card I Sold for 29.99 BIN..Any Thoughts

hi there, ok i don't know where to start with this one. i sent your card into Beckett grading services, and although the signature is legit, the numbers are not. according to Beckett, the official version of the 4/10 is already graded, thus making yours fake. i will allow you to suggest how to handle this, in 2 days from now i am contacting eBay, Paypal, and my lawyer. fraud isn't a game, its a felony in all 50 states. please let me know how you would like to handle this.

BGS doesn't catalog the serial numbers. If that were the case, how would people be able to crack and resubmit? I'm sure that somewhere there are instances of the pop report being higher than the print run. Smells fishy to me...

I would ask the buyer for some documentation from BGS - usually they would send something back with the card if there was any issue as to why they could not grade the card. Also it is entirely possible UD made a mistake and numbered the same card twice - it has happend before.

Based on the tone of the buyer, there is probably little chance he would want to deal with the issue in calm and rational manner. Normally I would "fish" a little to see how he would like the situation handled. If he comes back with "I want a discount on the card" then that should be an indication to you that something is a little fishy from the buyer end.

At $29.99 it probably isnt worth your trouble - perhaps offer him a full refund on the card provided he sends you back the card in the original condition you sent it.

Thank god you live in one of the 50 states, do the usual return the card and I will refund it line and see if he jumps at it. Aka make the customer happy

Hmmm I kinda take back my previous comment:

there's another Alshon Jeffery SOTT /10 that ended and it looks like the /10 version has gold text whereas yours look like it's black:

and here's yours:

Here's a non /10 version of the same card:

Sounds like he might have reason. Could be totally true.

ask him if he's stupid enough to think you really want to break the law to make 30 bucks, other than that get him to send it back with tracking & refund his payment.

**edit, interesting to see the comparison photos above, did you pull yours or buy it to resell? Possible it could have been hand numbered by someone else stupid enough to break the law for $30 :D

I looked at some of the other SOTT autos on ebay and they all seem to have the gold writing on them, its just hard to see in some of the scans

Email him back. Inform him that your lawyer is awaiting to see a response from his lawyer, as your lawyer has already contacted, ebay, paypal and beckett grading. Then wait and see if he responds.

Tell him to call UD who, with their track record, are more than likely to blame with the numbering issue.

Tell him to mail the card back, issue him a refund and then take it up with UD. Others have pointed out, only the gold version is numbered /10. Someone screwed up somewhere with that card.

The differences would be how the cards were scanned/photographed...it looks like the scan "knocks out" the gold in print. The photo is better for the color.

The situation really does suck with the claim but get the card returned, give the money back & go from there. Start from scratch again...that or do what everyone else on here says, which seems like very good advice also.;)

If you look at the 10 on both the gold, and black versions, they look pretty darn close to me,in other words looks to me like the same person from Upper Deck hand numbered both of those cards. Now I'm not a hand-writing expert, but the size of the numbers, and slant of the 1 in the 10 look pretty bang on. The fact that the Op says he pulled this from a pack, well I believe him. I'm willing to think that the UD rep got these back from the player, and hand numbered 10 of those black autos by accident, and then did 10 of the golds. What are they gonna do, throw them out? No way, so I'm thinking they just threw them into packs anyways.
