So as we've seen in the last lockout, the next rookie class became the new league superstars, do you think if there is a hold over we will see another power house rookie class to compete with these guys along with the other consistant 2-3 line players?

Crosby
Ovechkin
Getzlaf
Perry
Phaneuf
Parise
Richards
Carter
Ballard
Vanek
Suter
Koivu
Jokinen

Goalies:
Lundqvist
Ward
Howard
Rinne

We will definitely see an above average class if there are two draft classes held over for next season. I don't know if we will see any players of the Crosby/Ovechkin caliber.

Also, can't forget Pekka Rinne for the last lockout rookie class in 05-06...

Stronger than normal, yes, powerhouse not even close. The draft classes that 2005-06 drew from were exceptional to start with. Last years draft class was considered relatively weak at the top end after the first 5-6 picks. Outside of McKinnon and Jones, there aren't too many guys getting hyped this year and there are no real notable holdovers from previous years. We will never see a rookie class of the 2005-06 quality ever again.

I wouldn't say that persay. I mean look at some players who were late draft picks but ended up becoming superstars and some first rounders who became nobodies. The only way we will know for sure is after NHL comes back

russian first overall pick doesn't get to play because of lockout only to be overshadowed by the hyper of a kid from Nova Scotia? Which rookie year am I talking about? 05-06 or 13-14?

Indeed! Just hope we don't have to wait til 13-14 to find out.

Some very notable names that could get the RC treatment in 13-14 if we do indeed lose this entire season. It would easily be the strongest class since 05-06 but probably will need a few years to evaluate just how top-end the prime guys end up being. I guess it's only a matter of weeks until we start speculating as to how they'll do the 2013 draft eh?

nothing to speculate. shaddy 3 balls per team, take one away per playoff appearance, minimum 1 ball, draft method. only this time phoenix wins.

Just hope that they get the thing settled. I don't want to see the 2012, 2013 and 2014 draft classes combined. Winter in Saskatchewan without pro hockey is :duh:
