I remember that Beckett analysed Rypien in thier 05-06 Rookie Rolodex (Beckett #186, September 2006):

"He's small and has no scoring touch which is to the hobby what being poor and ugly is to the LA club scene."

Not very good. You'd think he would hardly last. But he has been one of the brighter players for Vancouver over the last few years. He was part of the Canucks' smothering D all season.
