The football forum gets no love, so I figured I would post here, since pretty much everybody knows this guys name. It is a pretty good read.

As a Chargers fan, the mere mention of "Ryan Leaf" made me break out into cold sweats. Such a MASSIVE disappointment. But I had no idea just how hard he had fallen...

Goodness, the humility shown here - and with a lot of these players tribune articles - it's beautiful.

Todd Marinovich made news out here in recent months. I'd love to see an article from his perspective if he ever sorts himself out.

Well if things like this aren't posted in the Football Forum, how's it supposed to get any love... :icare:

Anyways, a most interesting and telling article. Thanks for pointing it out.

i often wonder how many pro athletes this happens to that we dont hear about

Plenty. Just few have the opportunity or interest in articulating it. Like Johnny Manziel - we probably have no idea what his real story is.

Like many of us, they've got fantastic stories to tell that are outside the normal bounds of coverage. There was an article about Bobby Ryan I just read today highlighting his home life, his parents, and that spectacular mess. The Players' Tribune gets the story in their own words, and it's beautiful. I love the work there.
