Long time members here have seen my posts from time to time of additions to my Kurri collection. Many of those great additions have come directly from this community. Once again, that is the case.

Back in May of last year I posted a pick-up that was a big one for me, one of my few missing pieces from prior to 2000, the 89/90 Finnish Pelimiehen set including of course Kurri. Mika (nikke21) was kind enough to check with me regarding the other couple of rare Kurri that sat atop my want list. He ran down one of them for me, shown below, and we struck a deal. I can't thank him enough for his help in landing this one. Shown below is the 78/79 Finnish SM-Liiga issue of Jari, and I was terribly excited when this came in the ol' mailbox a few weeks ago.

It may not look like much compared to all the new, high dollar, shiny stuff of the latest and greatest, but for this old Kurri fan, its a small piece of collector heaven.

That simple piece of cardboard is better than a lot of the new, flashy stuff out there right now. This is what the hobby is all about! A collector tracking down a rare card he needed after all these years in the game. Love it.

For those who know, you know.

Creasecollector: Thank you. The low numbered, modern, pretty stuff is great, but for a player collector to me something like this is hard to beat.

The Big M: Thanks, it took a lot of casting to reel this one in. So appreciative of Mika.

Primetimepawich: Thanks. Yes, of the few I have seen over the years, this one is at or near the top of list condition-wise. Fortunate to be able to get one in this condition.

Capsfan30: Thank you. Yes, when the very first card on the list of Kurri stuff is missing, it haunts you (OK, maybe that's a little overstated, but you get it).

Its a pleasure to help other collectors and im happy that i can do it to you Rob. You also help me to get nice cards to my collection. This Kurri is not easy to find here in Finland and usually its not that good condition.

Congrats on that pickup! I've found a ouple goofball Giacomins recently for my PC and like you said, they're not shiny, low numbered, etc, but they feel like huge wins!

Congrats!

That's a phenomenal and a tricky card. Congrats on the addition.

I remember while collecting Kharlamov (and Hlinka, whom I still do) there was one impossible set even located here in the Nordic countries, that feeling, adrenaline you can get from cardboard is quiet special.
