Let me say this, I CANNOT STAND THE "EXTENDED BIDDING" BS IN THESE STUPID AUCTIONS!!!! It gives people on the east coast and overseas a HUGE advantage, and is just stupid. The auction houses think it makes them more money, but it really doesn't, all it does is pisses off buyers. Anyways, I stayed up until almost 4am PST for this one, and it still wasn't over, so I threw in the towel and went to bed. Luckily my bid held up, but I had told myself if I got outbid so be it and I would not bid in these auctions with extended bidding anymore. Too frustrating and there are plenty of other items and auctions out there that do it the "right way".

I have a message in to a collecting friend with USA Hockey to try and get more info as I have my doubts on this one, even with the letter directly from the player, and it was in the Newport Sports Museum Collection. Normally I wouldn't bid if I had doubts, but this one was worth the gamble to me, and I notified the auction house of my doubts ahead of time and they agreed if I had it authenticated by a reputable person and it came back as NA, they would accept a return on it.

So, here it is, a real beautiful gamer from the 1988 Olympics of Tony Granato. Again, I hate autographs on gamers, so I'm going to try and have it removed professionally. Very happy and proud to add this one to the PC. Thanks for the look, Go Hawks and Go USA, BIG win over Finland today!!!

Great pickup! Just a question, though. Why would you have the autograph removed?? I understand you said you personally don't like it, but it's a personally autographed gamer from the 1988 Olympics. Unlike NHL gamers, I'd have to suspect that Olympic jerseys are WAY rarer, and I wouldn't want to potentially damage the jersey just to have some ink removed.

Wow, sweet jersey! I know what you mean about autographed gamers though. Curious though, why do you have your doubts about its authenticity?

Just not a fan of autos on the jerseys, not sure why really. As far the questions I have, its only because I have seen other authenticated gamers from the '88 Olympics and there are a couple of discrepancies with this one. I'm thinking it may have been a pre-Olympics worn jersey and not one actually worn in the Olympics themselves, but I could be wrong (I hope I am).
