NL MVP Ryan Braun Test's Positive for PED

It's not for a PED according to reports - but a banned substance. But it's nice to know that confidentiality still reigns when the process hasn't been completed yet. But everyone has already hanged him before it's actually announced...

ESPN is saying PED's, Buster Olney said steroids. But regardless it doesn't matter what it is. He's tested positive for something. And up until this point no test result has ever been overturned. So we'll see.

That pic is quite funny. He's so adament, but then again most athlete's that test positive are. It will be interesting to hear the outcome.

Based on my understanding from someone who is very knowledgeable about the process. The person who administered the test and took the sample kept it in the fridge for two days instead of shipping it off to the lab ASAP as procedure is supposed to go.

When they repeated the same 2 day delay on another sample, which Braun gave immediately, it came up negative. Braun didn't win the appeal on a technicality - he also showed how the first test could came up positive - which the independent arbitrator agreed with.

Biggest shame of this is none of this should have ever been public knowledge in the first place unless he lost the appeal. And the fact is, only two parties knew - Braun and MLB. And I highly doubt Braun would blab this publicly...

If knowledge serves me a positive test has always been made public upon notification of the party involved, in every sport. Jose Theodore, any football player, Manny Ramirez, Ryan Braun. There clearly isn't anything in the collective bargaining agreement of any sport to stop these results from being made public until after an appeal process has been completed or it would have been challenged by now.

I still have doubts as to whether he juiced or not. I do not find this result conclusive, he had his argument, again not that he didn't take anything, rather that the tester did not follow proper procedure, and a false positive could have resulted. We just don't know one way or the other, for certain. That's the shame of this story.

The MLB model does not make a positive test result public until after the players appeal process. At that time if the appeal is denied then the news goes public. If the players wins his appeal the news is never made public - the event simply never occurred. They ****ed up royally in all aspects and leaking it to ESPN before the due process makes baseball look 100X worse than any positive result as they undermined their own self-written policy (which was the policy they "collectively bargained" with the PA for).

Manny didn't fight it, he just walked away and "retired" - Braun has no record of cheating, no shortcuts, went to Miami on an ACADEMIC scholarship, not a baseball scholarship. His stats have been on a steady climb, commensurate with someone coming into his prime at 28 - he passed two random drug tests already that season before the one that came into question. So I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt - I mean if you put up those kind of numbers - you're going to expect testing.

MLB got what it wanted when it leaked the info - they served as judge, jury and executioner - except their handling of it was totally botched before the whole process played out. About as ham-handed as Selig's tenure as Commissioner over all things

Based on how the appeal process went, we will not know for certain one way or the other. And Braun's past means nothing. I saw him in spring training last year, and he, along with Prince Fielder, were the two biggest a-holes in all of Arizona, he's a jerk. But again that has nothing to do with this.
