No GU cards

Hypothetically speaking...What do you think the hobby would be like with no GU cards. No jerseys, no pads, no gloves, etc. We would have base, rookies, autos, inserts, and parallels. Just curious if the hobby in its present form would be similar to 12 years ago.

inserts & parallels would be as desirable as they once were. I wish I had a time machine to go back to 95 and sell my donruss & leaf master sets for a quick couple thousand

hmm, but then again a time machine would probably cost more $ than I'd get for the cards

I would welcome that. It would make the hobby more inclusive and everybody would be able to collect at their own pace. How many people have we seen drop out of the hobby this year because of financial considerations?
It's crazy to pay almost $2K for a case of what, 24 cards?
