wondering if someone can identify where this game-used piece of pad is from. All previous pads of Thompson (except other 1 in 09-10 ITG H&P) have been sole leather and this obviously is not. Is this from some strap, or? It looks almost like some band-aid (plaster). There is heavy wears, heavy curling, stiching & dirt. very nice piece, but would be nice to know from which part of pad this is from.

The card itself:

Still looking for Brimsek from same set, any help in finding it is highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Could be from the back side of the pad where the shins or skate would rest or perhaps a patch that replaced a tear or possibly a stitched on name plate of sorts for a company logo

It also looks to me that there is a VERY faint signature or handwritten word/name on that swatch as well

The entire set of pads wouldn't be made of leather, the inside parts like Burner mentioned above would be of a cloth or canvas type material in many cases. Here is an example from a pair of Lindbergh pads:

You can see the cloth on the flaps and whatnot, I would say the swatch on your card is most likely from that area of the pads. Even some of the early George Vezina pad cards had swatches from similar material, ITG would want to use as much of the material as possible instead of just using up the leather and tossing the rest.

Very nice card!
