Taylor Pyatt maildays are definitely few and far between these days but after a couple recent arrivals I have checked a few long awaited cards of my wantlist :D

First a few cards from a small trade on another site:

003.jpg

10/11 Crown Royale Regal Achievements /499 Patrick Kane
10/11 Crown Royale Regents /499 Johnny Bower
10/11 SP Authentic HoloFX Jonathan Toews

All 3 are available if anyone is interested.

96/97 Leaf Preferred Steel Power /2500 Sergei Fedorov

This come from a time when inserts were still a very big deal. Being out of 2500 these were not the easiest to come by back then and are still very nice looking. The scan doesn't show very well but the "Detroit Red Wings" text is a cool holo-foil type printing. Nice addition for the Wings PC.

Now on to the Pyatt stuff...

First up is a copy of a card I have already but you will see the significance shortly

02/03 Bowman YoungStars Patch /50 Taylor Pyatt

This card is significant because it completes a personal rainbow that I have been tracking down:

That gives me 1 of each jersey and patch color possible from Pyatt's YoungStars jersey that Topps used for these memorabilia sets.

Since Topps pulled apart all of the numbers and didn't use any nameplates or logos for the set, it only leaves 3 possible 1 color options of black, red, and gray. You can see clearly in the gray patch that there are stitching holes where the patch used to be layered before being take apart.

As for the jerseys, all of the color changes on that jersey are seams and Topps did not use any seams for this set leaving only 1 color pieces available. The only multicolored cards possible from this set were jerseys that go from one color to the next without a seam in the material.

And finally, what I have considered a true whale of mine arrived today:

02/03 Topps OPC Premier Red Parallel /100 Taylor Pyatt

I have never seen a copy of this card since I began collecting Pyatt. I'm sure other player collectors can also say that this parallel set is not the most fun and being that it is almost 10 years old now, most of the cards are stashed away in common or bargain bins. It popped up on eBay about 2 weeks ago and there was no way I was letting it go. I'm pretty sure I paid what some would view as a crazy amount for a simple parallel for a player like Pyatt but I'm happy!

This addition completed my 02/03 Topps Rainbow:

02/03 Topps
02/03 Topps Factory Set
02/03 Topps O-Pee-Chee Parallel
02/03 Topps O-Pee-Chee Factory Set Parallel
02/03 Topps O-Pee-Chee Blue Parallel /500
02/03 Topps O-Pee-Chee Premier Blue Parallel /500
02/03 Topps O-Pee-Chee Red Parallel /100
02/03 Topps O-Pee-Chee Premier Red Parallel /100

Thanks for the read!

Very nice work!

And you weren't kidding, the 2002-03 OPC Premier Red #/100 has been haunting my Arturs Irbe wantlist for years!

Those Reds are ridiculously hard to track down. I have some from my player PC that I'll find hard to move just because of how much I paid for a mere insert - only a player collector understands that.

Thanks for the comments everyone! It's fun having a collection focused on a lower end player because it keeps the chase interesting but at the same time allows you to go after other ideas like getting one of each jersey color and stuff like that without having to severely break the bank.

That last rainbow is definitely a toughie. I only have it done for 1 of my 5 guys. And I still need both Reds for a couple of them. So I appreciate it's toughness for sure...

Congrats!!
