Not so fast, LeBron...

I laughed at the back and forth over the grade. Guy claims he worked at Beckett and knows what he is talking about. Lol. It’s a 1/1 so grade matters less, you won’t find a higher grade!

I like this comment in the twitter post above:

Why is Trout more popular in the trading card market than he is in real life?

Seriously, even living in LA, I rarely hear anyone talk about Mike Trout or the Angels for that matter other than in the card community, and the occasional highlight on ESPN.

The league doesn't market him very well and Trout doesn't have much interest in marketing himself either. Very much a ''quietly do my job and go home'' kind of guy. He could be in countless commercials if he wanted to but apparently he doesn't. He plays ball and goes home to hunt and fish in the offseason.

Even going back to when he signed his contract extension, he could have dragged it out into the offseason when his deal was up and caused a huge bidding war between teams and a media frenzy but no. Just signed an extension with the Angels on a random day with no hype or buildup. I remember lots of talking heads in the media complaining that Trout didn't even try to throw them a bone and let them hype it up at all. The guy just doesn't want any extra attention off the baseball field at all.

Between that and the complete lack of team success you'd wonder why he can be so popular but his stats are generational and I guess that's enough for the hobby.

Wonder which would fetch more, this Trout superfractor or a Lebron rookie logoman auto 1/1 from exquisite collection. I'm not sure if the latter card exist either.

It does. If memory serves, it was inserted as a redemption. After Lebron signed it, one of his group of friends decided he liked it and kept it.

This led to one of the most massive redemption replacement efforts UD has ever made with the poor dude who redeemed it. They dumped enormous quantities of replacement stock rarities in hockey to make up for it.

This sounds like an interesting read. Any idea where we could find an article?

To my recollection, no article. However, Karvin should have the details. Or the incomparable Chris Carlin.
