Tony DeAngelo to the Flyers for some picks

Peter Mrazek's now in Chicago

Ville Husso is traded to Detroit

Vitek Vanacek Traded to the Devils

Matt Murray traded to Toronto for future considerations. Plus Ottawa retains 25% of his salary.

Val Nichushkin gets 8 years at $6.125mil based off one good season? Yikes. Put me on a line with MacKinnon and Landeskog and I’ll put up similar numbers!

He put up the numbers regardless of what line he played on. I have never seen anybody that bounced between the 1st thru 3rd lines as much as he does. That is why the Avs wanted to keep him.

The $ doesn’t seem insane for a 1-3 year deal, but 8 years is pretty crazy based off what he’s done in his career. Hopefully he’s aging like wine and will keep getting better.

He’s been fairly solid all year, and did well in the playoffs. That counts. I would think the greater risk is disappearing back to Russia again.

I agree, 8 years seems long, but he has played well in an Avs jersey once he settled in, not just this year. He'll likely be a buyout candidate in 5 or 6 years, but in the short-mid term, it's a good signing on paper. I look at the term as a "Thank you" from Sakic for the effort he has put in since donning the jersey. I listen to a LOT of Avs games on the Altitude Network because the commentators are my favorites and the timing of Avs home games line up with my normal bedtime. Val's name is one that has been popping up on the broadcasts more and more often, even if his name wasn't on the scoresheet. Seems like he does all the little things right during the game.

Sharks-Hurricanes trade:

Brent Burns and Lane Pederson for Steven Lorentz, goalie prospect Eetu Makiniemi and a conditional 2023 3rd-round pick. Sharks are retaining 33 percent of Burns contract.

The Edmonton Oilers have agreed to terms with Free Agent goaltender, Jack Campbell. 5 years. $5 million AAV.

Jaro Halak has signed with the #NYR to back up Igor Shesterkin.

Mikhail Sergachev signs an eight-year extension with #TBLightning at $8.5M AAV.

Ilya Mikheyev agrees to a four-year deal with #canucks at $4.75M AAV.

:leafs: have agreed to terms with G Ilya Samsonov on a 1-year, $1.8 million deal.

NEW TENDIE IN TOWN!

The Washington Capitals have signed goaltender Darcy Kuemper to a five-year, $26.25 million contract.

#ALLCAPS :caps:

Like what the Red Wings did today.

Solve their Center issue with Copp
Chariot should help the defense
Husso a better tandem in net

Don't forget David Perron.

My favourite deal so far remains the "Toronto gets paid to take Matt Murray" deal. They got Murray, a 3rd in '23 and a 7th in '24 from (a somewhat terrible) Ottawa for....FUTURE CONSIDERATIONS. Essentially for nothing. "HERE. Just TAKE HIM OFF OUR BOOKS." He's a decent goalie who's struggled a little. That's fine. He'll settle out. This is a darn good deal.

Also a big fan of the signings Colorado's made. They've got a good young goaltending tandem. Allowing Kuemper to leave frees up money to make all the midlevel signings that are so critical to building a team. Burakovsky will be replaced with Newhook. Other new talent will be brought up. I expect they'll be ferocious again next season.

Agreed on Perron, he's become one of my favourites over the past few years due to his impressive ability to get better as he ages.

As someone who has watched Murray for the past few years, not so sure he can recover as well as some are hoping. Ottawa was at least just bad at defense; Toronto simply just doesn't care about it. And for a cap dump trade, most spectacular has to be Pacioretty to Carolina! I think Vegas is pretty much finished for the time being in regards to being a Cup contender.

Agreed as well on Colorado. Looking like them and Tampa will be competing for many years to come, both teams are locked up pretty well for a long time.

I'm curious to see where the NYR go after losing Copp/Strome/Vatrano even though they signed Trocheck. Patrick Kane would be a nice addition even if he's on an expiring contract.

Funny that Domingue left PIT to sign with NYR. I guess he really liked the spicy pork & broccoli at MSG during the playoffs. :hungry:
