This question has been asked so many times and it is a very good one to ask. When I was growing up and was brought to the card store and after buying some packs I was told not to open the packs there but to open them at home....I never knew why but i listend and did as i was told....I kept that up for the logbnest time until I i cracked a few packs of Upper Deck Legends and got a Lou Gerhig Pant card with a pinstripe right down the middle of the piece...I was so happy I couldnt control myself....but alas...nobody around to see the pull...right then i vowed to open packs in the store....call me an cowd hound but i love the spotlight. Everytime i'm in the store(Gamebreakers) i have always cracked something worth while..auto, jersey, patch ect...It has been a very lucky place to pull greatness after greatness....2001 was the best year for me and you can ask anyone at Gamebreakers how I pulled wicked stuff over an over again....So I would def keep crackin at the store and ask you do the same....since there is nothing better than watching someone pull greatness.

Its probably because alot of store owners have no scruples and would try to screw a kid out of there pull by enticing them with a few packs and such.

Yea you're right.......but at Gamebreakers the staff is always great with the kids and never try that with them. Sure, if the kid cracks open something really good they will most likely want it from them, but most times they are hapy for the kid who pulls it......if an aduat cracks the goods, then there will always be that offer but if the customer isnt into it they dont press the issue.

I'm of the opinion that this was more of the case back when the 'Boon!' first hit and everyone & their dog opened a Sportcard! shop! Some of these shop owner's were looking to scoop up the hot cards by trading the kids other unopened packs in return.

On another note, I remember being at one of these shops when a fellow comes in with an overnight case filled with OPC cards. He had 78-79, 79-80, 80-81 & 81-82 and was looking to sell! The owner gave him about $200.00 CAD for the entire lot. After the guy left with his loot. The owner pulled out three Bossy, four Gretzky, five Messier and a hand ful of Bourque RC's & waved them in my face. Needless to say, that was the last time I purchased items there.

I myself haven't opened or for that matter purchased unopened packs since the 'Boon!' As I collect & deal in mostly rookie cards. So I'm better off just buying trading for what I like/want.

I've heard a bunch of good things about Gamebreaker's! Sounds alot like Wayne's Sportscards! here in Edmonton. :D

Thanks for the read!
