As some of you know I am working on a Beehive Master set. Some of the Jersey/Autos and Ready for Framing autos are heard to come by. I have an opportunity at a Patrick Roy Auto #'d/10. The seller is looking for $300 DLVD. I plan to make a counteroffer. What do you guys think a fair price is? Opinions Needed Quickly. Mike

Beehive is not a high-end product... and the other Roy /10 autos from ITG and Ultimate have been selling in the $200-250 range. Now, that's not to say the seller isn't asking a reasonable price because not everyone uses eBay to put values on things.

I was thinking the same range as well, maybe $200-$250, but it all depends on how bad you want it really. $300 is not outlandish IMO.

Mike,

I think $300 delivered is a fair price for that card. Although Beehive is a lower end product, a lot of people are doing what you are doing. As well, you don't have to compete with a few of the high end Roy collectors that are on ebay.

I would go for it imo.

Darren

Thanks guys for the quick responses. It looks like everybody is in the same ballpark. I am gonna counter $225 and see what happens. Mike

$300 is a bargain. If it goes on ebay and you have to deal with those big Roy buyers, you'll pay more if they need it.
Chris, Now I am scared. I just counteroffered $225. Do you really think that $300 is a steal? Mike

Chris does bring up a good point. If the big Roy collectors get going on the bay, it could go for a lot. Sorry, didn't take that into account.

Nah, just search "Roy auto" and "roy autograph" and limit the search to NHL Cards.

$300 is fair, though a tad high for my liking. I'd be trying to get it down to the $250 range. If I were doing the set, $300 would be a done deal.

I asked if he would negotiate off of his $300 price. He said he would do $275. I countered $225. This was quickly rejected. I asked for a scan of the card. I said I might go higher if I saw the quality of the signature. We all know Patrick Roy's autos are not always great. He has not responded. I am sure he has the card. The seller owns a shop, and a HI member got me in touch with him after seeing the card in his shop. Thats where things stand. Wish me luck.

Mike - If he provides the scan and the signature is fairly clean, then I'd say jump on his offer... be it at $300 or slightly lower. As mentioned above, you'd save yourself a LOT of grief by not having this card hit eBay.

Mike,
I'd grab it for $300 in a second! Look at it like this...

#1. You will not get into a bidding war with Royisking (you'll likely pay through the wazoo for it then).
#2. The $300 puts the card in your hands, and nobody elses.

Mike

I still haven't heard back from the seller. I did some research on ebay. I don't think one has ever hit the bay. That is bad news for me. If I don't get this one, then the first one on the bay is gonna be expensive. Thanks for all of your help guys. I was not sure about this one. Mike

Considering what the Gretz went for - and I know the Howe went 3 months ago for $500+ also, I think that the Roy #/10 is easily a fair value at $300. If it goes to the bay and there truly has not been another one - then it will easily go over the $300 !!!!

It's done. I landed it for $250. That's a lot for me, but it's one of the biggies out of the way in my master set quest. Thanks for all of your help guys. I was really not sure about this one, and the help was awesome. Mike :D
