OT: Slipknot

the last CD sound more "commercial" but it's still a lot better than 2/3 of the music that cam out in the last year :P

Congrats CJ, have fun, and try to survive the mosh pit :D

hehe,
as some of you know I listen to mostly thrash metal music.
I was in an HMV on boxing day (day after christmas for the amaricans who don't know it) and this pretty good lookin girl came into the metal area, which..well, it's not a common occurance, so naturally I watched to see what she was after, picked up the slipknot CD and ran for the hills, was kinda funny to me.

Enjoy the show!

Slipknot = ****s

All's they do is scream, what are they saying?!?!!?!?

Have you heard their latest album? It's far from all screaming. It's slipknot, so they have to have some, but this album is a lot more tame than their previous ones.

From hearing their old albums as caused me to not like them. I really could care less what they sound like now, becuase they've already left a "bad" impression on me.

Velvet Revolver is the best....;)

I'm not a big fan of Slipnot, but enjoy the show CJ...makes the tickets I bought for my wife to see Sarah McLachlan (SP) seem kinda tame....LOL

CJ, man be prepared.

I went to Slipknot/Hatebreed in the Summer here with my girlfriend (I forced her to come pretty much) and it was just........ INSANE.

Trust me, you've never seen anything like it. Hatebreed does this cool thing where they make people run in circles in the pit.

Thankfully, my girlfriend and I were in a box (got tickets free from her work). It was really funny... she's an Italian very clean cut girl and when they were searching us when we walked in, all they did was look at her and smile and ask her "got any guns?" and just allowed her to walk right in. Everyone else got padded down.

They started with (sic) then the Blister Exists. Their Encore was Surfacing.

Just an INSANE night man, be prepared.

I can just imagine. I was telling my friend who might be going how he should dress (jeans, hoodie, no jewelry, steel-toed boots.. that sorta thing) and his girlfriend was like "I don't think I want you to go now!" It was pretty funny. I know the type of people that go there and I know they are just off their rocker, so I'm going to be prepared...I hope :o

Nah man, honest to god not much can prepare you. I'm sure their are worse shows and worse bands to go watch but theres never been a show like that here in Ottawa before. Even the newspapers were saying that. Get ready my friend.

Funny eh... Lecavalier.... Slipknot... I wonder what else?

CJ you are in for a treat. I just saw them last night (my 3rd time) and it was their best show yet. 1st time i thought i was going to die. My buddy and i were front center of the stage and it was off the wall. At that show they played Eeyore (bonus song from the 1st album) as an encore and it was the 1st time I've ever been scared at a show. 2nd time they were alright, they seemed a little off. But last night, was intense. Unearth was the opener, and they were alright, but the vocals were way too loud and overpowered the music. Killswitch Engage played second and blew me away. They played all the songs i wanted to hear. And Slipknot was just incredible. They too played all the songs i wanted to hear. Their set was a good mix of all albums. Have fun man.

They're a hardcore band aren't they?

Think I've seen them as an opener for someone,
hate hardcore.

Ummmmmmm, yea, they're kinda hardcore, but also kinda old skool metal/euro metal. Their newest cd is really good. Normally i'm not into that style, but they do it in a way that i can tolerate.

Haven't been to Slipknot, but I have the last three albums, and I'm missing the first one.

Unfortunaetly I may just be getting old when I say that unfortunately I just don't see myself going to a Slipknot show and enjoying it anymore. I think it's the whole "crowd" thing. However, if Motorhead came to town again, that may be another story.
