Pack of 1957 Topps hockey opened LIVE at the Expo!

At the recent Expo in Toronto, Bobby Burrell (bobbybhockey) and his crowd at Pack Rats booth opened a pack of 1957 Topps hockey in front of a small crowd of people. It was videotaped, and here it is:

I was there when the pack was opened. Im the one who called Gordie Howe before the card was pulled. It was amazing to see that pack opened.

I know what you mean. I love ripping the old wax. But this stuff was 3000.00 per pack. A bit out of my range if I value my marriage...and I do.

When I left the gum was still on the back of the Sawchuk. LOL I think he was going to send the card to a conservator to remove the gum.

Hey Bobby... what does a pack of this '57 go for? Also, value on the Howe & Sawchuk? Were you able to save the Sawchuk?

doesn't anyone remember the article in beckett #4 where it explained how to microwave a card next to a glass of water?

I remember when I was setting up at shows back in the early 80s and a few dealers next to me were having pack wars(high number) with packs of 52 Topps baseball. Too bad we didnt think of taping that!! I cant recall what was pulled from them, but I do know that there wasnt any Mantles rookies. bummer

Most of the Mantles ended up at the bottom of the Atlantic, sadly! Very cool to see that though...

The pack generally in that grade would sell for $1500 ++. The Sawchuk is still being worked on, will let you know, if the gum comes off, it will go for grading.
