Just heard from a VERY reliable source that this deal is DONE. I would expect to see an announcement within the next week or two.

It seems our friends at Panini are quickly getting a foothold into the North American market. Should be interesting to see what they do with the basketball exclusive, now that they have the technology to do memorabilia inserts & autographs!

Man, if you told me Panini was going to be a powerhouse trading card company even a month ago, I'd have just laughed at you and said get off the bong hippy. That's what makes life interesting (possibly including the bong ;) )

Considering Panini is probably better capitalized than either UD or Topps right now - they could stand to make some major inroads in a hurry

That's hilarious. I was pretty much thinking the same thing.

i don't know if this has been discussed before... but what do you guys think of what will happen to prices of cards from UD and Topps right now?

not to mention UD has loaded their recent stuff.. I've seen some sick premier packs (well they better be sick.. the SRP on that stuff is like the equivalent of the cup in hockey!)

With the uncertainty around the quality of cards to be produced, I would expect people to buying up the remaining boxes of UD and Topps that are floating around. But then, the economy itself is a big factor in the spending. I would like to hear that any future releases remaining would be loaded with goodies. :) I do have an order for 08-09 Topps Signature. 8 packs per box with an auto per pack. Plus each box guarantees you an A-list auto (eg. David Robinson, Shaquille O'Neal, Dwyane Wade, Derrick Rose, Chris Paul). The thing is, this is cheaper than a box of SP Game Used Hockey! Last year, UD and/or Topps guaranteed an A-list auto per case; but this time around, in some instances, it's per box!
