Panini Peeks New On-Card Arrivals for 12-13 Limited (Gallery)

I like game used puck cards, especially the on can autod prime version, and the acetate cards look nice as well. An on card autograph of the Board Members would be pretty sweet. I never get sick of the Private Signings either.

I have a huge problem with this card:

Shouldn't you at least try to picture a guy with the team he was on when he won the pictured award? You wouldn't do a Stanley Cup Champions card with Gordie Howe in a Whalers uniform, would you?

One of these things is not like the other, one of these things does not belong

Timmy's got an expensive autograph contract, I guess they feel like they might as well use it!

Should the card also say Tampa Bay Lightning because he won it when he was on that team? Or is NYR right because he plays for that team right now?

I love the concept, but hate the execution. I don't need excessively shiny cards, nor was I around in the 90's and early 2000's to now pine for them either. It looks like the space for the autograph was an afterthought. Also, while many of us can recongnize the award from sight, naming the award on the front would have been a nice touch too. I really liked the Stanley Cup Champions set in Dominion, well designed and executed. If Stanley Cup Champions is a goal, this set is a blocked shot.

I personally don't mind the look of the cards in terms of shineyness. It kinda looks like they've kind of cracked Topps Chrome technology... somewhat. Not quite as good as Topps has and of course, no refractor either. I am, btw, a HUGE fan of the mid 90s refractor/shiny cards... I just don't like the way Panini's doing it with Trophy Marks and what they've done to Certified Fabric of the Game either.

I do wholeheartedly agree with you about the autos. The location seems like an afterthought.
