I was doing a search on eBay and came across this "set" that I had never heard of - a supposed set from "SCA" that was never produced but had "serial numbered" cards out of 10.

From the description: This is a card from 352 cards set made of NHL goalies never issued in a hockey card format. Manufacturer is SCA.
There were only 10 (ten) sets issued. Each card in the set is serially numbered #d/10 at the back.
MUST HAVE card for any serious team or goalies collector.

I was still an active member of hobby media at the time and I cannot recall ever hearing about it.

I'm naturally suspecting these are home-made cards, given they have no licensing credits, but I'm wondering if anyone has any knowledge of this.

Shame really, there are a few Jets goalies that don't have any other cards produced....

For what it's worth, it's the same seller as discussed in this current thread. To date, those who have complained about him are referring to his high costs or his low-balling on offers. There haven't been any complaints about legitimacy of the cards, although this set hasn't come up.

Garbage set produced in someones basement. I say garbage because that's exactly the level of quality these cards have. These should not and will not be recognized as a legitimate hockey set.

It's a basement project.

I'm okay with releases like this providing they have a good following and have been constant in the hobby for years (ie. The BY Cards or Corona card set, which also has mysterious origins across the pond in Russia, but are very collectible over there and have a large following).

However, this is not one of them. I would personally stay away from these cards.

This set comes up in a few searches of mine regularly. Garbage is a good way to put it.

Honestly, for the type of player that's been included: Custom cards are cool, and a nice way for collectors to fill holes in their collections.

What's a custom worth? I guess it depends on the quality. I happily pay (about) $5 a card, to have someone else make cards for me.

Honestly, the cards are priced about 10x what they're worth... it's not a real card company, so the "x/10" doesn't matter. The fact that there's variable pricing makes it a bigger joke.
