Pierre McGuire? Interesting
It appears the search for the next general manager of the Minnesota Wild has been whittled down to a short list of candidates.
According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Wild owner Craig Leipold is looking at a diverse list that includes Pittsburgh Penguins assistant GM Chuck Fletcher, NHL on TSN analyst Pierre McGuire, former Maple Leafs and Canucks head coach Pat Quinn, Nashville Predators assistant general manager Paul Fenton and current acting general manager for the Wild, Tom Lynn.
The report indicates the front runners appear to be McGuire, who is scheduled to interview for the position on Tuesday and Fletcher, who is expected to arrive for discussions with the team later this week.
Fletcher's Penguins are still active in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, the team would not stand in the way if he is offered the job.
Former Maple Leafs general manager John Ferguson was informed he would not be interviewed and Minneapolis-based player agent Neil Sheehy contacted the Wild to say he was not interested in the position.
