PM Bouchard - 2 Game suspension.....the weakest call Shanahan's made yet?

"Wild brass' claim after watching the one angle of the video umpteen times is that it's clear as day that Calvert gives Bouchard a jab on the faceoff. Bouchard's stick is parallel to the ice facing straight out and Calvert lifts Bouchard's stick into his own face. The Wild says on video, you can see Calvert's blade go over his own head as Bouchard's stick nails him in the face.

Looks pretty clear to me too. That's a hefty penalty for what the video shows.

Calvert lifted the stick, but there's no reason for it to hit him in the face if it was his own fault. I saw a jabbing motion with Bouchard's left hand that made it go directly into the face. Either way, 2 games is what I figured would happen after the play unfolded.

I don't have an issue with the suspension. I think v3rs3's point is spot on, thus making the two games a fair decision.

I agree, differently, weakes't call... because he did it intentionally, he should have received a bigger penalty.

I don't mind it. It gets rid of the needless stick swinging by chickensh*ts.

Keeps the swing downward. Horizontal and upward swings are the dangerous ones.

It was Matt Calvert, of all people. Seriously? Did he intimidate you that much???

PM Bouchard knew he was wrong and dropped his stick right away.

You have to be in control of your own stick.

This would receive an in-game penalty regardless of intent to injure, therefore I think the suspensions should be the same. I like that Shanny is handing one out here actually. Yes it is weak, but it is some much needed consistency in the league.

I think it could have quite easily been called differently on the ice. If the refs gave him five and a game for high sticking, I think it would have been done there. It deserved more than four minutes, though.

Whatever he intended to happen - Bouchard swung his stick at Calvert, and it hit him in the face.
