So yeah I'm thinking about dropping 80 bucks in Pokerstars and start playing sit and go's and tournaments....maybe I can start making a living doing this if I get good enough, maybe become a online legend like Dario Minieri, Havad Khan, Pearljammer, USCTrojan, etc

I find that unless I play heads up SNG's the time factor is just too long for the SNG tournys. The ring games are much more profitable.

I have been playing $5/0.50 9 person sit and gos for about a month and a half. Only playing 1 maybe 2 tourney's a day if that. I started with $25 and have worked it up to over $200. So nothing amazing but if you can work the table I find them to be pretty good. Now if you want to make a bit more play the $10 SNG tables, I just do it for fun though adn if I can get a bit of cash out of it then great.

OK, I just wasn't familiar with the terminology of a ring game. Thanks.

Athough I disagree saying they are more profitable. I think the type of game largely depends on the style of player. You might be more profitable at cash games and I might lose every dime I have at a cash game.
I find playing the SNG games, I play two games at a time in an hour or so and then can take a break. I don't get bored and start playing stupid hands just for the sake of playing a hand. Where sometimes at a cash game it might be a while before you even do anything because primarily you are going to play premium hands and just hope to win a decent pot.
As Matt Damon said " Your goal is to win one big pot an hour"
haha Sweet Movie!

if you're starting out.. start low of course.. so go to the micro's. They're not that bad if you play the single 6-max Turbo's. Playing other SNG's are a waste of time, get the feel of 6 handed, move up to low and then play the 6 handed cash games. Less seats = more hands = more money won (or lost)

I'm even considering playing on FullTilt on the FTOPS IX tournaments, a few hundred dollar tournaments can yield some great payoffs depending how many places get paid, I am sure if I play smart I can place in them!

Play tight. VERY tight. There's more chasing going on at those levels than your typical night at the bar a half hour before closing...

at 960 people you're looking at a prize payout of $960.. and you're telling me you only got 40?

Something doesn't add up unless Pokerstars is taking more rake than the 20 cents per person ;)

yeah my bad it was a .25 cent tournament, not the 1 dollar tournament, i didn't even finish in that one. I don't even know what I did with the tourney results.....

I dunno if there's a way for you guys to find out and check, but my screename there is floisgod.
