Ok, I made a trade with a person in California. I was to send him some vintage basketball and he was to send me some vintage non sport.
So I sent my cards off with tracking and even though it took a bit longer then I though it would. My cards show as delivered to him on
Jan. 23rd,2024. So I contacted him to see what he thought about the cards.Since I could see that they were delivered. Plus I
mentioned to him that I have not yet received anything from him.He tells me he did not use tracking. No big deal as long as I get my cards.
So the conversation went on for a week or so and he did not appear that he wanted to put any effort into finding his cards. So I called
the USPS to get a follow up.Like I told the lady with USPS that it smells a bit fishy to me. I told her that only a few possibilities are
possible. Either the letter carrier delivered it too the wrong house and scanned it as delivered. The letter carrier scanned the as delivered
and took the package himself. Or the person I traded with is lying about not having the cards. So I am not sure now what to do.The USPS
wanted me to put in a claim on the insurance. I told her Canada Post is not going to pay out on something that shows it was delivered.
And now the person is feeding me the line that he is getting tired of talking about this, Then accused me of not telling him how
to ship cards from the USA to Canada. How in the world would I know.So I am right now thinking I am out my basketball cards and
that I will never get anything from him in trade.

So where do you think this leave me. Should I just chalk it up to another life's lesson. Or should I continue to pursue this in an effort
to get a final resolution.

Hi Winston, it might be one of those unfortunate life lessons.

However, I'm an eternal optimist because most people have good intentions. I've had non-tracked mail coming from the US to Canada take as long as 6 weeks. There's still hope!

I don't know if this holds true for International mail tracking to the US, but for packages sent within the US with tracking, the geo location of the delivery scan is recorded.

I had an instance where something showed as delivered that I didn't receive so I reached out to the post office to inquire and with the tracking number they were able to tell me that when it was delivered the scan was actually done one street away (basically a parallel street one street behind mine) - same house number, different street (because that makes sense). The post office left a note on their door about the misdelivery and I did as well - eventually I did get my mail (the BS line of why it took a week tells me that the person would not have returned the mail without my persistence).

Not sure if this is possible in your case to at least prove the delivery scan was done at the right location (if it's an apartment building or shared mail location that probably wouldn't help) but thought I'd mention it.

If I follow this correctly, you mailed with tracking, shows delivered, trader claims they did not receive. They mailed without tracking and you have not received.

Obviously nothing you can do about the stuff sent your way without tracking. In terms of the stuff you sent, you can contact Canada Post to say item shows as delivered but receiver claims it was not. You will need to make sure you have their contact information (email or phone) as Canada Post will need that to contact them so they can verify it was not received. Both times I have had to do this it was "found".

This does not help you overall though as you are still out the cards on both sides in the end if your package doesn't arrive.

The person says now that it will be the last time he will ever trade, sell out side the USA.
Then today a totally different deal the person is finding out there are rules when shipping
to other countries. And he also stated he would never deal outside the USA again. I do
not understand why it seems so difficult to ship from the USA to Canada. I have never
had an issue sending to the USA from Canada. Yes it is not cheap. But never a problem. I
believe a lot of the reason is because I know there are rules.I follow the rules and away
goes the package.

I will try contacting Canada Post but I do not see anyway they will give me my insured
value when it was shown as delivered. Thanks a lot for all the great advice and comments.

Some people are soo bothered these days to put in a little extra effort. They also are tight on their wallets and don’t like spending more than “they think” it should cost. If it costs a few $ extra to send an international bubble wrap, they would send it PWE.

Definitely think positive. You both might get the cards soon. USPS isn’t as reliable as it used to be.

Btw, did anyone see that one guy’s youtube post of his returned PSA submission that got totally mangled? YIKES! Makes you think that you are very greatful you get something as safe as you do after seeing the video. Definitely could be your worst case scenario.

I am beginning to believe that you are right. I sent him an email on the weekend
asking for his phone number so I could pursue a refund through Canada Post.He
refuses to give it to me. Oh well so be it. Thanks.

Canada Post will take an email as well as a contact for opening a claim.
