I realize that the season hasn't started yet and these "rankings" don't mean anything whatsoever but it is still interesting to see what teams are projected to do for discussions sake.

http://www.tsn.ca/fantasy_news/rankings/nhl/
According to TSN's Scott Cullen:

1 Pittsburgh Penguins
2 New York Rangers
3 Boston Bruins
4 St. Louis Blues
5 Vancouver Canucks
6 Chicago Blackhawks
7 Detroit Red Wings
8 Nashville Predators
9 Philidalphia Flyers
10 Los Angeles Kings
11 San Jose Sharks
12 Buffalo Sabers
13 Ottawa Senators
14 Dallas Stars
15 New Jersey Devils
16 Edmonton Oilers
17 Washington Capitals
18 Montreal Canadiens
19 Carolina Hurricanes
20 Minnesota Wild
21 Calgary Flames
22 Anaheim Ducks
23 Phoenix Coyotes
24 Tampa Bay Lightning
25 Colorado Avalanche
26 Toronto Maple Leafs
27 Florida Panthers
28 Winnipeg Jets
29 New York Islanders
30 Columbus Blue Jackets

So I thought we could have a little preseason discussion based on these. Few things I'd like to hear in responses. (welcome to say more or less)

1. Most overrated team on the list.
2. Most underrated team on the list.
3. Name your team and let us know your thoughts!

1. Most Overrated: Buffalo Sabres, think they should be about 8 spots lower. This team was dismal last year, not making the playoffs despite having one of the best goalies in the game backing them up.

2. Most Underrated: Florida Panthers, they don't have a superstar in their corner but they are a solid all around team. They received a 3 seed in last years playoffs and gave the Devils a run for their money. Huberdeau will only make them better this year. Their goalie situation is all that is holding them back.

3. Detroit Red Wings, Central division looks tough and it shows in these rankings with 4 of the top 8 teams (with Columbus in dead last) If the schedule rumors are true and teams will be playing 7 games against one another within the division it's going to be a tight race come playoff time. I think the Wings will get the 4 seed in the west with one team in the central taking the #1 spot.

I'd like to say the Isles are the most underated but I will have to say Florida, I don't think last year was a fluke and adding Huberdeau they should be able to compete for a playoff spot again this year.

Most overated is definitely Detroit, or is this wheelchair hockey with all those old guys. (I pick Detroit every year for most over rated hoping to be right eventually!!!)

I think Isles will be better than second last this year but don't see them competing for a playoff spot quite yet, hope I am wrong!

overrated: Canucks. Kesler is still out for a bit, the uncertainty in goal, they're probably due for a bit of a step back. I also think the Hurricanes are going to be pretty awful, but 19 is just a bit high. The Stars are too high if they can't get Benn under contract ASAP.

underrated: Isles at 2nd last. Eventually potential becomes the now and I think the Isles finally start taking steps forward, I also like their goaltending setup (minus Dipietro; Nabokov-Poulin-Nilsson). Maybe the Capitals as well, depends how the players (particularly Ovy/Backstrom) respond to Oates as the coach.

my team: Flames. It's better than most are predicting, several of the sports betting sites have the Flames as the 3rd/4th worst odds to win the cup. I'm a bit more optimistic than that and like most of the new additions (minus Wideman).

haha pretty much the first team to win the stanley cup and bring back the ENTIRE team and they only get tenth. i know 8th seed blah blah blah and wasn't expecting first since no one still gives the kings the respect they should get but still found tenth funny. good thing power rankings aren't worth much more than a laugh

Underated: Florida for sure. In a short season maybe Tampa Bay also.

Overated: St Louis Detroit & New Jersey

My Team is the Red Wings. I have to laugh at the notion that they are old!!! Exactly 5 players over 30 right now (Kronwal-32 & Cleary-33 & Datsyuk-33 & Samuelsson-36 Bertuzzi-37 ), how does that constitute old?? Detroit is clearly questionable on the blue line - could be a very trying season back there.

Ummm you forgot Henrik Zetterberg is 32 and Johan Franzen is 33.

People say they are old because all their good players (the guys they rely on) are in fact old.

They have one of the oldest teams in the league based on average age for a reason. Last year they were the oldest and this year they probably aren't far off.

What age is their youngest player that matters? Like 27? Lol

overated - I will go with Nashville. I think they will miss Suter big time and they might be in tough to make the playoffs.

underated - Carolina. I like a couple of moves they made. They still need some d, but they could surprise. I also agree with those who picked Minnesota, they could be interesting.

my team - Habs. It will be another frustrating season with early tee off times come playoff time.

TSN ranked the Wild 20th. They must have forgotten that Wild picked up a couple of a 100 million dollar guys in Parise and Suter. Ha

I think it's a bit low, but they're defense behind Suter and Gilbert is flat out weak. A lot of unheralded players are going to have to play well above anything they've shown up to this point.

I too feel that Vancouver is overrated, only because Kesler is out, who knows if he'll play at all this year. And they don't have proven secondary scoring without him.

This could be said for a lot of teams a head of them too. So its a wash. But I feel our D on the team is going to be very good. maybe undersized if anything but they can move the puck well and a few guys have a good shot. So again I feel they should be in the top 10 if not the top 7

TSN one is ****ed. Montreal should be near the bottom. Maybe even last. New system, no training camp, hello lotto!

1. Most Overrated: Sabres / Blues (both should be a few slots lower)

2. Most Underrated: Panthers and Isles (Isles wont finish 2nd to last, and FLA will likely make the playoffs)

3. My Team- Rags. Can't complain with the ranking, and as Rags fan I know not to count my chickens until they're roasting over a roaring fire.

I'm going to say Chicago is over rated, Crawford is a huge mystery. Not to mention the scheduling wizards have them playing 10 of their first 12 on the road, in a shortened season they could almost be out of it if they don't go above .500 in their first 12.
