Prices of products

I 've found an honest dealer and become good friends with him, if you go in on a regular bases and buy from him trust me it's well worth it I've benefited in buying boxes from him and in having a good friend who cares!

You can bet your bottom dollar that if they could, Best Buy and Future Shop would be marking up iPads through the roof to make up for Touchpad and Thrive sales if they could.

I'd add Blackberry's too. Speaking of which, 'ol Jim Balsille resigned from RIM.

Quote directly from The Star:

"He often frustrated analysts who cover RIM, who privately griped about Balsillie “overpromising and underdelivering” and just talking too much. Some of Balsillie’s favourite expressions on conference calls were: “Just you wait and see. Just wait until you see our roadmap. It’s very exciting.”

This is the same idiot who thought he could strongarm the league into giving him a team?

You can't compare UD to Canada period. Its a different market altogether, and the price you see is never the price you pay when you add on exchange, extra shipping, brokerage and duties and extra time it takes.

As with most things, supply and demand dominates price. Prices will fluctuate based on this and constantly. You also have to consider this: if a product wholesales at 80 upon release and retailer A buys 10 boxes while retailer B buys 2 then goes up in price to 100 a box, chances are retailer B will re-buy before retailer A and will have to raise his price to make his profit. You will also see discrepancies because of that as well. Don't discount retailer B because of this however. Customer service, reliability and trust are also valuable in this business and not everyone has these virtues.

This quote is Bang on. For the past year or so, I've made a relationship with a dealer and I've got nothing to complain about pricing. This guy keeps me up to date on all stuff.

That's a good point but my dealer cannot predict when the price of a product will go up...if he would know, he could tell me and I could buy at a lower price a week before, but I don't think it's even possible for him.

I really think the Card company should take more risk on a product sell and not put all the risk on the distributors. this way, they won't have to boost the price on some products to cover the lost of other products...They should be able to ask their money back! This way the pricing will stay the same when it's out and maybe go down only when the Redemptions are expired...
