Hey gang, your thoughts on both systems? Did anybody end up pre-ordering any system?

I pre-ordered both, though I admit I'm dragging my heels around a bit over the XBox One, if only for the DRM restrictions. I need both systems unfortunately for work purposes, though I can see myself sliding back toward Sony (I was a loyal Sony gamer until the PS3) over the course of the next few months and years, especially since I tend to buy a lot of games used.

I'm in for a PS4. Sony's lineup of games has always been more of what I'm interested in so that's how I go. Add to that 3 failed Xbox systems as well and the decision is simple for me.

Sony's lineup of exclusives in 2013 so far has blown Microsoft's out of the water. I think from what I've seen so far, Microsoft has a slight edge for next gen beginning of life exclusives, but that could change in a heartbeat. I've heard rumors that Beyond: Two Souls and an enhanced version of Last of Us could make their way onto PS4 next year, so anything's possible.

What did you make of the price points Darren? I was really surprised at how low they were. Granted...$900 pre-tax for both systems isn't low, but I had honestly thought I'd be forking over Panasonic 3DO launch prices ($700) for each one

The XBone is a botch. Wait it out. The price will come down, and so will a bunch of those restrictions.

Apparently PS4 claims they don't have restrictions but they in fact have same ones XBox does and are disguised by putting those in the hands of the manufacturers of the games.

Jury's still out for me. Not really excited about either console, though some of the TV features on the XBOX One sound cool if they actually worked outside the US.

I have a xbone preordered already.

Heres a good side to side comparison of the ps4 and xbone. and for some weird reason they toss in the WiiU. (why worry what a previous gen console does?) http://www.ign.com/wikis/xbox-one/PS4_vs._Xbox_One_vs._Wii_U_Comparison_Chart

I laugh so hard at everyone who's getting their panties in a bunch over the required internet connection. This is 2013, if you dont have a solid reliable internet connection move out of your cave into the real world.

I'm also glad with what they are doing with borrowed/used games. BOTH systems will allow developers to charge players to play already used games. Its not just a Xbone thing. Heck I buy new anyways and support the companies making these games 1st hand. I think over the last 15 years i have purchased 1 used game.

kinda disappointing that xbone isn't backwards compatible, but i expected it. I just hope that i can use my profile on my 360 and xbone at the same time. Either way my tv has more than 1 HDMI port so im fine.

The only trouble with this is that there's still a high percentage of rural Canada and America on dialup because their areas don't have high speed connections. I don't know what this does for them.

That, and as of a few years ago, it was found that only 35% of XBox gamers (this has to be much higher now) were regularly connected to XBox Live. Assuming that number is closer to say, 70% now...that's still 30% of your market you're alienating.

Steve > I'm with you. If I weren't going to be reviewing games on a regular basis, I probably would've bought a PS4 on launch just because it's so damn cheap for a brand new next gen of that quality, and waited the XBox out 2 or 3 years like I did with the 360.

I'm taking a bit of pleasure in the fact that I can probably claim this on my taxes next year at long last.

On a side note > Nintendo's lineup of first party games look pretty solid the rest of the year out. The new Mario Kart sounds ridiculous, as does the new Mario 3D world game.

Scribblenauts this year is supposed to be based around DC Comics, so that will probably be pretty off the hook too.

All for the PS4. I've always leaned towards their exclusives (Uncharted especially), not to mention it was great having the PS3 for Blu-ray's. I found it read blu-ray's MUCH quicker then a lot of the actual blu-ray players.

I was always big on the final fantasy games (thou I know a lot of them are coming out on both systems now a days), but I've just always leaned towards sony when it came to deciding between systems.

I have no doubt I'll eventually buy both, but for now, I will grab the PS4 first.

ALSO...ITS ABOUT TIME, THEY ARE FINALLLLLLLYYYYY MAKING KINGDOM HEARTS 3. Only been 7 years since the last one..... While this used to be an exclusive for Playstation, I see its been added to both consoles now. From what I saw at E3, It does however look to be a loooonnnnng way off from completion.

It'll be insane to see what they can put in it now that Disney owns the rights to Marvel, Pixar and Lucas films.

Hey PS4 suck on this... http://www.xbox360achievements.org/...soft-Backtracks-on-Xbox-One-DRM-Policies.html http://www.xbox360achievements.org/...Feature-Changes-Following-DRM-Turnaround.html

to paraphrase XBone will only need to connect to internet 1 time now, upon initial setup. none of that 1 time every 24 hours, and you can trade, buy and sell all you want no fees. They have also gotten rid of the region lock. So glad i preordered ,y day one edition xbone now. (Even though i wasnt to worried or upset before)

Now what will the Playstation fanboys have to trash talk about? Besides the name....

I think most of the hate was actually comming from Xbox fans. I went on a Xbox forum and most people on there were losing their ( swear word lol ) to the not so popular changes Microsoft was implementing.

In the end people should just play on the systems they like and stop going on YouTube videos just to troll. I am a huge fan of all systems myself. I thought the Xbox was better than the Ps2 and I also thought the Ps3 was better than the Xbox 360. I got the red ring in my first week and ran lol.
