Hey guys,
Just wanted your opinion on something. Was looking at completed sales of YG's and PSA 10's generally seem to sell for around the same price as a BGS 9.5. While the BGS 10's are sometimes double the price of a PSA 10.

It seems like lately a lot more people are opting to use PSA rather than BGS. PSA is already the go to grading company when it comes to vintage, I wonder if it'll start to get a following when it comes to modern cards. In regards to modern cards (YG's, FWA), will a PSA 10 ever hold the same value as a BGS 10? What do you prefer? A BGS 9.5 or a PSA 10?

I've personally been opting to pay slightly more for a PSA 10 copy rather than the BGS 9.5.

For modern BGS 9.5 and PSA 10 are the same, in most cases. The BGS 10 and 10 Black are the high standard no doubt. In my case I am in the middle with Lemieux, I have a BGS 9.5 in Topps and would love a PSA 10 as well. In OPC the PSA 10's are crazy money and I have never seen an OPC BGS 10, so I can't even imagine that price if ever. For most it is a pure what they like scenario, some don't like Beckett being in grading and pricing, some don't like PSA for some reason. To me any 9.5 or 10 from either is good enough for me!!

In terms of price,

BGS 10 > PSA 10 > BGS 9.5

And I’d expect this to remain the case as long as BGS is active, since the population of BGS 10’s is significantly lower than the population of PSA 10’s.

In terms of the actual quality of the cards, it’s a crapshoot. Buy the card and not the grade!

Well said.

I still think the rule - BGS for modern, and PSA for vintage still applies. I guess if values are similar for PSA 10's and BGS 9.5's for modern, I think it boils down to preference. I like PSA, but prefer BGS for most modern cards. I would doubt if a PSA 10 will ever match a BGS 10 in terms of value either.

Yah this is how I see it as well. I have some PSA 10's and some BGS 9.5's, don't really have a preference.

I just wonder if the PSA 10's will see an increase in prixe over time.

Psa 10 = Bgs 9.5?

I like to grade my nice cards but I can't decide between the 2 companies. For modern cards, does a PSA 10=BGS 9.5?
