Hello i sent in some 1980's wayne gretzky cards to PSA for cross over registry . they had been previously graded by beckett.

1 x bgs 9.5
1 x bgs 9
1 x bvg 9

all three came back as not gradable "N1 - EVIDENCE OF TRIMMING"

these all were originally graded by beckett at different time periods and were by no means consecutive serial numbers .

do you guys think PSA is full of crap and just didn't want to give my gretzky's high grades or do you think beckett is grading trimmed cards?

if they are actually trimmed cards it would blow my mind , i mean what are the chances of this being the case?

here is the bvg 9

Trimmed could also mean cut from whole sheets

Tough one for sure. Hopefully you left them in the Beckett holders and asked for minimum grades on your order? That way you at least get them back in the Beckett holders?

This is one thing that really bothers me about PSA. I, like you, paid for a service and all I got back was N5 Altered, nothing else. If I'm paying you $58 for your service, the N5 Altered means nothing to me. How about an explanation, some detail of what is actually altered, and how you came to that conclusion. Instead, all you get is a worthless sticker and a credit card charge. In your case, N1 Evidence of Trimming is extremely vague, what exactly is trimmed? Is it one edge, two edges, all four, or sheet cut?

I believe that Martin sports is VERY well known for cutting cards from sheets having them graded and selling them.

IMHO, cards cut from sheets is a different animal from outright trimming. That said, neither case merits the same treatment as pack-pulled cards.

the head grader is reviewing my order along with the jonathan toews sp authentic future watch auto after i called and complained.
i will let you know the outcome.
he is regrading the toews for $18 fee
he is regrading / reviewing the gretzky cards as one time courtesy .

What's wrong with Martin Sports? I've dealt with him the past and he is one of the top sellers on eBay in terms of graded vintage hockey and sells cards in all major graded holders.

Nothing wrong, I've bought from them and had good experiences. But they buy sheets and cut cards, and anyone trying to cross high end BVG cards to PSA is going to be disappointed. You think the Orr I linked would be in a BVG slab if it wasn't ripped from a sheet? Further, any high end BVG with clean edges is likely cut or trimmed. Some do get into PSA slabs - i'd bet those psa 10 72's from Martin all come from a sheet and psa passed them.
