Hi everyone,

As a seller on ebay, I sell mostly low end base/insert cards (for like $1 a piece). I like to ship all cards in toploads/bubble mailers etc. with delivery confirmation so its about $2-$3 to ship a $1 card.

To attract more buyers, I was thinking of creating a $1 shipping option where the card would be sent in a white envy. Obviously I would put in the description "not responsible for lost/damaged mail" (if you choose the $1 option). Although its a low-end card and I wouldn't want to lose money on it, would I likely get screwed by ebay or paypal if the buyer claims he never received the card?

Is this something any of you would recommend or have done it the past?

Many Thanks!

No matter if you say you aren't responsible for it, you are. It is your duty to get the item to the buyer in good condition no matter how much you charge for shipping. You will lose every time a buyer files a claim

It doesnt matter what you put in the description. You are responsible in paypals world. Im not sure thats a good idea. If you want to charge a buck to ship to attract people, then do so, but dont go the white envelope route. Just my two cents :)

First two already said it.

You can write all the disclaimers you like, but you ARE responsible. If the card doesn't get to them safely, it's your problem.

That being said - a $1 option using a PWE might still be a good idea. Dropps the shipping cost big time, could be popular with buyers?

You are responsible.

Next point - why are you paying $2-$3 to ship a single (or 2 or 3 cards for that matter) bubble mailer ??? You need to use Ebay checkout shipping and pay online through ebay.

A bubble mailer going to US for 2 ounces and under (1 jersey card with a decoy protector - or 3 base-RC - inserts) is $1.79 with DC when you pay through ebay.
One ounce to Canada is the same price and 2 ounces to Canada is $1.98. There is a cost savings right there. Also buy 300/600 bubble mailers through various ebay sellers at a time ( or split it with a friend) and your cost for the bubbles gets down around $.08 each or so.

Hope this helps keep your costs in check.

Bruce
