Couple questions for COMC users

1. How fast do you find there shipping time?
2. How securely do they ship the cards? (as they have a $0.20 toploader option)
3. How open are seller to offers?
4. Has anyone had luck flipping cards on the site?

1) Shipping time is quick, the mail time is slow. Based on postmarks they get the cards processed and in the mail quickly, but for whatever reason, the packages stay in the mail systems a lot longer than anything else I've ever received coming from WA->BC.

2) I've never had a problem with damaged cards and I've ordered 542 (shipped 523) cards from them. It's usually two top loaders sandwiching 10-20 cards - but if the card is worth enough, it wouldn't be a bad idea to upgrade to the extra top loader.

3) Depends on the seller - PM (or text) me with seller name, and I'll see if I've had any good/bad experience with them and their flexibility.

4) No clue.

1. I am local here to where they ship from but I had my package inside of five working days via standard delivery. The nice thing is you can wait until you have a large enough package to really save on the shipping instead of having them ship 2 or 3 cards. Packaged very well - all cards in sleeves and taped between a couple toploaders on the outside all inside of teambags and bubble wrap - no issues at all, very secure.

2. I guess that is mostly answered above.

3. Same as everywhere - some are open some are not. It kind of sucks that you can't send a message along with your offer but it is what it is. Keep an eye on the homepage for the sellers that are offering discounts, many flat out tell you they will accept 50% offers.

4. I haven't flipped many - sold a bunch and bought a bunch - picked up a couple here and there that I thought I got good prices on but nothing too extensive.

thanks for the answers guys

another question is how long can I keep buying and adding cards to my order before I ship? I know they have 30 days until you lose a % of the store credit

A) Forever - you don't need to ship

B) Not sure what you mean - the only thing I think you lose after 30 days is the ability to cash out any money that you've put in to make purchases.

IE - If you prepay $40 and end up buying 38 dollars worth of cards and postage - you have 30 days from the purchase of the $40 to get it refunded back or it remains as store credit for your next purchase. {that might not be as clear as I need it to be - if not, ask me and I'll try again}

They used to have a 1 cent per month charge for holding cards, either in inventory or listed for sale but this has now gone away. There should be no charge for accumulation and waiting for mass shipment.

I've had very good success on the site too. Found lots I needed at decent prices. Most sellers very flexible, even if their prices are already low. The sellers with high ask values to start can be tougher sometimes. Never sold on there.

BTW - they ran a huge listing special for the National in Baltimore about a month ago and all the cards they collected will be hitting their shelves on Sept 5th.

May want to check back in there in a week or so to see if there is anything new you need - sounds like they got a couple truckloads of cards to get uploaded so it should be interesting to see what comes out of it. I sent in 2500 that are going to be hidden in the mix...ha!

That's good to know. I routinely search based on "recently added" and the searches have been feeling a little stale.

I'm extremely impressed with COMC. I've been able to find cards there I'd never be able to find locally and never for a good price on eBay.

From their tweets and their blog posts it looks like there should be a ton of new stuff that will be loaded up on the fifth. I am sure it will take the sellers a day or two to get the prices added in but there should be a lot of new inventory.

I think they have something like 4.7 million cards in their database now - it will be interesting how much a spike there is. I am going to assume that you are going to see at least a couple hundred thousand cards added.

to me COMC is starting to see like a possible replacement/alternative for Ebay - especially for buyers as the combined shipping is a huge upside to buying

not to sure from the sellers perspective

As a seller, I am seeing a little more of a switch and seeing an uptick in activity from COMC with a regression from ebay. I wonder if this is part of the reason that ebay is offering free card listings through the end of the year - they must be seeing some bleeding to have that type of incentive in place.

As a buyer, I think you hit the nail on the head. It got a good base of followers that are knocking off bulk, low cost, set needs and seems to be building up a little more of a high end market as well. That side still needs a lot more sellers to drive the bus and it is always going to be tough on new products with a 30 day turnaround to list but it looks like there is still growth to be had.

Not a perfect system by any means but, finally, a viable alternative to ebay. I am sure they are never going to take the whole hobby away from ebay but they have to be making a dent.

after reading this, i went on there, i have 6 new cards and 4 more offers out. love that i can wait to ship them out together. the shipping costs were killers on low to medium end cards on ebay. i was a little off put that i had to deposit paypal with them when I offered for cards, but with the 30 day policy for returning unused moeny with no charge, all is good

put in my first shipment - so ill see how long it takes to get shipped over to me

nice way to knock off some of my wants - if this goes smooth ill be looking to make a few more bulk orders to fill up my vintage base wants

I never had problem with COMC, but sometimes a bit longer with some shipment but it's because I'm from sweden so that's understandable but in overall I think they're doing a great job.

I bought many nice PC-cards from COMC so it's quite dry there with my PC-players for now haha....but give COMC a shoot and you don't gets dissapointed!
