Hi all

I've decided that I am going to liquidate all of my traders and non-PC cards and hopefully whittle my card collection down to about 2 boxes. The question I have for those of you that have been selling recently, we have all noticed a significant decline in sale values related to the lockout, etc, but historically, have you noticed an additional decline when the Expo is right around the corner? I have some nice pieces to move (shields, Cup RC's, etc), but I don't want to damage the end value anymore than it already will be by listing now, if there is a slight uptick in ending prices post-Expo, especially since there is nothing significant on the horizon in terms of new releases with no new rookies to chase.

Look forward to reading some of the responses to help me make the decision...

Thanks,
Rob

Rob - Ebay prices overall right now are as bad as I can ever recall, As for the Expo influence I've always found the opposite and had some of my best weeks of sales coincide with expo as it seems to increase the amount of people scouring for the post expo credit card desperation payoff sales. Also last lockout was very good sales wise on older issues as people picked up some projects to finish. This time I dunno as the number of collectors left in the hobby is down significantly.

Last year my sales went up prior to the expo. I guess sellers were trying to stock up for the show. Also, the more items you list at one time, the more they will sell for. People will start bidding on multiple auctions in order to combine shipping. When you get 3 or 4 people do this it raises your sales. That's just my experience. LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE 11-12 UD EXCLUSIVES you will be listing.

Hope this helps

Expo has been consistent for me year over year. Some people will pay the sticker price, while others haggle with you. Then you get the odd person who wants to really kick people in the knards.. You learn to spot these people and just not bother lol.

On ebay, I have not noticed a dip in prices per card sold but have noticed a drop in the online traffic. However I am not complaining because I am now getting 1 or 2 people a month who go after 15 to 20 items at once. You can clearly see they are trying to finish up older sets.

In general, if the product is hot/recently released, prices are higher and then they eventually settle. I call it set collecting ADD. Release product A, sell like hot cakes for a week or so, then product B comes out and product A has a date with someone who likes watching paint dry. Its been this way for a long time.
The only year where I never noticed such a mood swing was 05/06 and we all know why that was LOL
