So there are a couple of projects that I am looking at persuing but am wondering if there are any online (or offline as well if those even exist anymore) resources to gather some infomration. Namely, I am looking to put togehter some auto sets from my favorite movies/programs as a child and am wondering if there are any databases out there where I can search by a name to find out if they have any certified autos.

I may look at going down the custom card route if this is not possible but, with my lack of design skills, could prove difficult.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Try Jeff Allender's House Of Checklists To Start ;)

Hah, I'm working on a big database of non-sports autos now, but it's still a ways off.

I suppose you could do a Google search on Jeff's site, but I was unable to unearth, for example, Ben Kingsley with either of the following Google searches:
ben kingsley "house of checklists"
ben kingsley site:nslists.com

That said, you may want to try the following:
http://st-cards.de/index.php

It hasn't been updates in several months, but it is still a great resource. Until my database is done. ;)

That's awesome...with the handful on here, you'd be able to find out more than a few names with autos. Should be a fun project :)

Joe...is your database going to account for sets like Americana and Celebrity Cuts as well? That's one thing I noticed the site you linked above lacks.

So - to shed a little more light on my project...

My daughter and I are having a blast putting together the mini-sets from Champs this year so I/we have decided to do something a little more aggressive - we still have a way to go with the Champs but are looking for something a little bigger for some stupid reason.

When I was a kid, my dad brought home The Princess Bride for me and my three siblings to watch when we were all home sick one day - we loved it - and I am using "loved" in a loose term as we were obsessed and watched it nonstop and continued to rent it over and over again.

Well - fast forward 20 years and I have inflicted the same obsession on my daughter. I have now started thinking that I would really love to put together a "set" of autos (if possible) from the actors in this movie. I realize that getting an Andre the Giant auto could be tough but the rest would seem to be out there somewhere.

I am not us current in the game as most on non-hockey autos so really I am looking for any card with autos of Cary Elwes, Robin Wright, Mandy Pitakin, etc.

Any help the crew here can give me will be much appreciated. Thanks for all the input and I will continue to do my digging.

Oops...my original question was pointed at Weasel-King Joe :D Sorry for the confusion there.

As for the Princess Bride idea...I like it! I'd only ever seen a Sarandon certified auto, and before Geoff posted it, had no idea Wallace Shawn had one. Might be an idea for a fully custom Princess Bride based set no? FYI Andre the Giant appeared in Sport Kings...maybe Doc Price has a cut auto in the set, or one kicking around he might be able to sell you?

In a word, yes. I am keeping some things out such as historical or presidential/political figures. Honestly they do not appeal to me as I am more interested in television and movie figures. I am also not including Benchwarmers or any of the scantily-clad women (or men) sets. I figure they have their own collectors who know where to go to find listings. There are a few other general areas that I am skipping over (wrestling, poker, Razor), but I have my reasons and will have a write-up on everything I have chosen not to include.

I hadn't seriously thought about persuing a custom card or master print set but have now been thinking that is really the only way to go - I have been browsing www.goldenstateautographs.com for the better part of the afternoon (yeah, I really should be working) and have found some good deals and some not so good, but a good start none-the-less.

I have come up with a master list of autos I would LIKE to get together and if anyone has any similar sites they can recommend, I am all ears.

Thanks again for all the posts - we haven't quite gotten going yet but we're getting closer!
