I'm currently working on a patch set - 07-08 SP Authentic FW Patch Autos /100 - and it's hard to work on it because I'm wary of every really nice patch card I come across. If you do a patch set, you want to do it right (not a lot of plain white pieces), so I only want to collect ones that catch the eye. In order to assure myself that none of the cards in my set contain fake patches, I'm thinking of getting them all BGS graded authentic (not a number grade, just authenticated). Will doing so ensure that all of my cards are the "real deal" and have not been tampered with? Is it worth it to do this? Please help me out by giving your opinion.

No authentication services authenticate patches. They honestly would have no way to do so, they aren't the ones that put the patches in there.

Only way is to buy from a relaible source;even that can be compromised if the item was bought second hand.
Some MAJOR homework is required, checking numerous scans on ebay, here on HI with guys mail-calls etc. The only way to "guarantee" is the old fashion way and break open them packs and hope.
Being that the card(s) are out of /100 there might not be a lot of scans avalible of others to compare to...one word of advice buy with care but have fun.don't let the wary of worry take away your fun.

If you do come across some patches you don't quite trust post them on here. This board has some excellent patch detectives and many fake patches have been caught.
