Gretzky owes this guy a lot for keeping the ice a bit more "open" for him.

Absolutely shocked by this - he had a signing with Georges Laraque just two weeks ago at Wayne's in Edmonton

Doesn't look like his cancer was something people knew of until he passed. RIP indeed.

Terrible news, condolences to his family. The NHL has moved on from the tough guy era but don't ever make the mistake of thinking Dave wasn't a huge factor in Wayne's success. Sure Wayne had a boat load of talent but a guy named Semenko afforded him the luxury of being able to flaunt that talent.
Simply put, mess with Wayne and deal with Dave.

When I was at the Leafs draft many moons ago, I had a chance to meet him.
He was an amazing person to talk to. Easily one of my top most favorite athletes of all time.
I am very sad to hear this. This just sucks.
