Greetings everyone, name is Derek and these next few posts of mine will be some of my first on the forums. Little background info on myself I was born and raised 1 hour outside Chicago, live in MI. now a few minutes from where the Pistons play and I've recently gotten back into the card collecting/memorabilia world.
24 years old last week and did most of my collecting in the very late 80's and up until the late 90's when the collecting was big and the prices of cards were at all time highs.
Now onto business. Recently I've been making a few purchases at Dave and Adams Card World dacardworld.com GREAT site btw and very cheap prices. Got a few random boxes and vintage packs. Nothing terribly special in my Bowman Draft Picks & Stars 07-08 and my SP Rookie Edition but I did a little test at my local Supermarket and Wal Mart.
Recently I went into Meijer ( supermarket ) and Wal Mart and bought a few of those variety boxes to test how good the boxes were. I was actually quite surprised with a few of my last purchases...
I got a 7 + 1 bonus pack box of 07-08 Stadium Club and pulled a 1:1,500 Rookie XFRACTOR of Acie Law IV, a dual swatch of Josh McRoberts and a few other decent inserts which pretty much paid for the boxes. I also bought a few random boxes that had 20+ packs of randomly inserted packs and pulled out a few nice cards ( nothing too valuable ) but got a few Durant and Horford rookies and a Shaq 05' All Star jersey swatch.
Overall I'd steer clear of these places but, sometimes you do find a few nice things at these stores randomly inserted in the packs.
Now onto my future box breaks. With the 07-08 season pretty much coming to a close after the NBA Finals and the 07-08 boxes becoming incredibly cheap I'm going to be purchasing here shortly, up to 5 boxes or a case of the 07-08 Bowman Draft Picks & Stars ( hopefully getting a hot box ), 1-3 boxes of 2007/08 Bowman Elevation Basketball Hobby Box, 1-2 boxes of 2007/08 Bowman Sterling Basketball Hobby Box, 1-3 boxes of 2007/08 Fleer Ultra Basketball Hobby Box and finally 1-4 boxes of 2007/08 Fleer Basketball Hobby Box.
The wait for these may be another week or so as I am waiting for my last credit card payment to go threw so I can order these but I am hoping for a few good hits, mainly Thornton auto's and so forth. I may film a box break or two if I geta case of the Bowman as I should get a hot box and some of the more expensive boxes. If filming I'll prob post a vid or 6 on youtube with the hits I had from the boxes.
I should also have a decent sized collection of random Lebron, Jordan, Durant, Oden etc inserts and base cards I'd be willing to trade all in package deals for Clippers inserts, rookies, autos etc.
I know its a bit soon, not sure how the posting works on here but hopefully I will be hearing from you all a lot in the near future and I hope to do some trading or selling on here with a lot of you.
