I was just thinking after seeing the auction for the crosby yg hg glossy what ranking would there be for value for these guys rcs and rc parallels. I don't want to include black label ygs etc. Just raw cards.

I think the top of the list would be

The cup regular and gold
Ice
Yg hg glossy

Then i lose all idea....
Victory black? /10
Black diamond gold/10?
Spa fw?

And what are the values on these cards?

I think the problem is define “ranking” value, desirability, other? Some of the items you have listed are so short printed there is basically 0 market activity 18 years after release.

For me cup it goes
Cup /99
Sp authentic /999
Young gun

Pacman

I completely agree about the lack of market activity, I was just wondering if 1 copy of every card not a 1/1 became available, What order would the final auction prices be.

For me it would be:
The CUP
ICE
SP Authentic
YG

The ICE rc /99!!! The CUP rc /99!!! These would be the two chasers. The SPa & YG are chasers for sure. The short prints of anything are dream pulls

I'll bite (It seems you're asking for our arbitrary options... which is all this is. I spent a few minutes putting the list together, but zero time seeing what stuff actually sells for. So this is just my impression).

If I were ranking the true Rookie Cards..... this is the order I'd put them in (the list should be the same for Crosby or Ovechkin, except Crosby has that McDonald's RC at the end - Ovechkin does not)

2005-06 The Cup AU, RC, MEM, S# /99
2005-06 SP Authentic AU, S# /999
2005-06 Ultimate Collection AU, S# /299
2005-06 Upper Deck Ice S# /99

2005-06 Upper Deck YG
2005-06 SP Game Used S# /999

2005-06 Victory
2005-06 UD Power Play
2005-06 McDonald's

Expanding the list to all of the parallels of those cards. It's tough. I may not have a complete list here.... and I excluded the 1/1s (and plates). I'll also mention that I don't believe the top card is the same for each player. For Crosby it's the true RC from The Cup (/99) where as for Ovechkin, IMO, it's the Gold parallel from The Cup (/8). Crosby's Gold card is /87 - and I think the True RC gives it more value than 12 less copies of the Gold provides. I think with how rare OV's Gold is, that puts it over the top.... so my list here is Crosby based:

The Ultimate RC/Auto is always slept on. Not just for Crosby but in general.

100% agree!

Since I hold zero value to manufactured patches aka event wore patches, the Ultimate RC's are #1 overall for me. A few reasons being.

#1 - Hard signed
#2 - short printed (significantly less then the FW
#3 - Typically nicer design then the FW
#4 - condition sensitive making any grade of 9.5 solid gold.
Oh and #5 they don't have manufactured patches lol

I still can't believe how the hobby hasn't caught on yet but happy to pick up hard signed ultra rare RC's of the greats for cheap(er) lol.

Keep going after the FW and Cup Rc's peeps.

Sean.

Sean.

I'm with you guys on Ultimate vs SP Authentic. I do like the patch cards as well (Cup, etc) - but why Ultimate isn't a bigger deal for RCs, I don't understand.

Sean.

I recently bought an Ultimate RC/99 for less than half the price of the same player’s FWA/999. And the Ultimate design looks way better that year! But like you said I’m not complaining, both my wallet and my PC are happier.
