Ranking of current most desired players to collect

I was thinking today who would be in the top 15 players of today's most desired NHL players to collect in general, whether its is value or whatever it may be. I put together a list of players with a few honorable mentions. I would be interested to hear your opinions and see your lists.

8. Jonathan Toews
9. Carey Price
10. Jonathan Tavares

But seriously, that's one solid list you've got there! Can't argue with much of those names as they all have a wide appeal around the league.

I could be totally wrong, as I'm just looking at this from a glance, but I would put Stamkos and Toews below a lot of names on the list, if at all in the top 15 right now. If we're going with what the hobby landscape looks like right now, I don't think they crack the top 15 today.

Both of these players had a huge impact on the hobby at one point, don't get me wrong, but as of right now I don't think he's Top 15 from a collectibility standpoint in the hobby at this moment. Just my opinion. I don't know the market on these guys, so I could be way off base here.

I would put Petterson (young stud in the league) and Hart (the goalie factor) in their place if I'm using your list.

Also, I think MacKinnon is going to shoot up this list eventually like he once was in this hobby. Just wait.

I'd say MacKinnon should be higher. But all in all, good list. I'll be curious to see this list in 5 years to see how much it changes.

Matthews is definatly #2. Huge Leafs fan base.

Yeah, I get what your saying with the Stamkos and Toews. I know Pettersson is a good player, but I was kinda steering away from the rookies only because of how volatile their cards are, if that makes sense. I think of Brock Boeser, yes two different players, but he was around a $60 young gun when it came out and now around the $20 range. I think I would have included him in my list if he was a bit more established. Thanks for your input!

No major opinion of the players most desirable since I don’t chase players like that, but the list seems legit. I would rate a few players differently but overall, same group. HM’s are about the same. I would expand it out to include a top D-man, personally, established like PK, or someone young and making a mark like Makar, or Q. Hughes, or someone else that is a star like Burns or Karlsson. Lidstrom was a darkhorse for years before establishing himself as a star d-man for his era. Hedman comes to mind...his loss in the playoffs last year was a hard blow that lead to Tampa’s early exit.
