Will there be rookie cards produced this year? What about the Young Guns in Series 1? Will guys like Nail Yakupov be included? What about Chris Kreider?

Series 1 will contain Young Guns RC of holdover players. Kreider has earned RC's in other 12-13 product so I assume he will be in Series 1 as well. Yakupov hasn't appeared in an NHL game yet, so he is not eligible.

None, really. See 04/05 for what was offered for UD1 (there wasn't even UD2 that year).

What does Yakupov being the 1st overall have to do with anything? The NHLPA rules clearly state that a player cannot have a card until they appear in an NHL game (or in a goalies case, dress as a backup for a game), so neither Upper Deck nor Panini are allowed to produce cards featuring any player who has to suit up, regardless of who they are, or when and where they were drafted. It sucks, but them's the breaks. It just means that Series 1 will be veteran driven, and Series 2 will likely be loaded for YG's, if the season isn't cancelled.

I collect the young guns sets and I'm pretty backed up with some older sets so a slow series 1 right now would be a good chance to catch up

I'm crossing my fingers for the return of Old Guns if the stoppage doesn't end soon and UD needs to fire Series 1 off. I loved the 04-05 retro Young Guns theme.
