I signed for a package today at my post office. I assumed it was cards I had bought from a guy in Alberta. As soon as I lifted the "parcel" I realized it was not from him. First, it had an address from St Catharine's Ontario on it. Second, it was too light to be what I was expecting.

If you haven't guessed by now. The package was empty. So now, driving to work I am thinking .. who ripped me off??? I checked my deals on here, I checked my deals on the other 2 boards I trade on, I even checked E-bay. I have about 20 incoming packages right now, and suprisingly, none of them are coming from Ontario.

So here is my question. I know some people mail items through their employer. Has anybody ever received a package from VWR Education Group???

I guess nobody's ever heard of this company (I haven't either). Apparently the division of the company that the delivery was initiated by is out of Stoney Creek called Boreal Northwest. I just got off the phone with them. They have no idea why a package was sent to me and are going to track it through their system. It will be interesting to see what package doesn't show up in the next few weeks.

VWR is a lab supply company out of Ontario. Not sure what they would be sending unsolicited, possibly a catalogue if they bought a mailing list.

Mystery solved. I now know who sent the empty box. It was a member over on SCF (he sent me a PM tonight). He apparently works for a "sister" company in the US and ships all his packages through the Canadian warehouse. He says it is quicker that way. That may be so, but it is also a lot more expensive. The box should have had 47 inserts, that I paid $5 for. I would think that is under $2 to ship from the US and that shipping by "expedited parcel" with a signature requirement costs more than that in Canada.

It's cheaper for him because he likely charges it to the company he works for...
