Registered Trader,
So I used to collect sketch cards pretty heavily. I am a member of a couple of Facebook groups involving non-sport and sketchcards as I am still interested in that collectible area as a windowshopper.
If you are in the same hobby you see the term "ACEO" thrown around a lot, often used interchangeably with sketchcard. ACEO stands for Art Cards, Editions and Originals. So I guess you could say sketchcards are a subset of ACEOs, but ACEOs can be mixed media. That said, I came across an artist named Jeff Trax. He is an art teacher in Michigan with an art degree, and admitted he was never good at drawing. One of his professors told him to embrace what he liked, and that you can't force drawing.
So, he stuck with collaging. Yeah, he has a ton of things he has cut out of magazines, comics, and anything else that strikes his fancy. These are some cards he made that I picked up from him. The creativity and subject matters are really out there sometimes. He, like myself, is a child of the 80s so we have very similar pop culture interests. If I had the money I would have grabbed some more, but these are what I knew I couldn't let fall into someone else's hands:
The devil is in the details. For example, the Beastie Boys' "License to Ill" cover in the chestplate of the Dinobot, Snarl.
Pure insanity. I also got Jeff to do an 8*10 commission. When it I get it scanned I'll post it here as well.
