Red Paper Clip trading (Help needed!)

A couple years ago, a guy traded a red paper clip for a house. This took him 14 trades to do.

I plan on doing the same thing, only with cards.

I'm starting with an Eric Lindros pro set base and I plan on working my way up to a Bobby Orr rookie card. That is my goal. If you'd like to help me on my quest for the Orr, please drop me a line. I'll be updating this as I make trades. I'm only looking to upgrade on each trade, this way I can make it to the Orr.

You may find yourself hitting a wall at some point. There's a thread on the PSA boards where a guy took a 1986 Topps common and has traded up to a vintage PSA 7 Bowman Warren Spahn at this point. It's taken him a while to get there, but it's been a cool thing to watch. Best of luck with your effort!
 
Yep, this will definitely take some time. However, I'm on the right track so far.

Eric Lindros Pro set base BV .05
Dany Heatley Rookie Update base BV .60
Alexander Ovechkin OPC Premier base BV 15.00

And I have offer on the Ovechkin of 25-30 BV.

I did multiplied the value by 12 the first trade, and 25 the second trade, and likely by 2 in the 3rd trade. Not bad :)
 
The only problem I can see is finding someone that will trade you a Bobby Orr card 1 for 1, or getting to the value you need to get that Orr card.

That being said, I wish you the best of luck and keep us posted!

Someone really traded you a Dany Heatley un-numbered base card for a serial numbered Ovechkin? Damn man, I gotta start trading again
 
If you are not picky on the condition of the Orr rc, I can see this happening. I hope you are able to do this and would love to read about it in the Insider's Edge once it is finished. Heck, something like this could gain wide media attention and bring some positive attention to our hobby.

With that, I hope to be able to help you with one of your trades along the way. It would be an honor to be a part of this mission.

too bad you couldn't find someone on the other end of this quest wanting to trade an orr rc straight up for a johan garponlov rc, you'd save a ton on shipping :)

cool idea though, good luck in your trades & I guess the thrill of the deal/trade is what keeps it going!

The house is in Kipling, Saskatchewan. The housing market in Saskatchewan is up about 10-20% this year. I think he is selling the house to move back to Montreal. No real recession here in Saskatchewan.
