The only crappy thing for him is that he'll likely be a healthy scratch half the time. The bright side is he gets to join one of the most prestigious teams in the NHL. Once he learns the Red Wings system, I'm sure he'll be a player

I would like to see him on a line with Darren Helm. I think that Darren can push Patrick to be the player every Ottawa fan saw that rookie season.

Unless he's a bust during camp he'll start the season playing every night. Wings have said all along they want Abdelkader to play every night in the minors rather than play 4th line minutes with the Wings.
At under $1 mill a season I like the signing.

Plus - that way they can assign Abdelkaders guarenteed salary to the minors as well!!!

Eaves could earn his way up to 3rd line minutes, he has talent and if his injuries are behind him and he comes into camp in super shape, he could play on the 3rd line. Great signing by the wings.

I like this signing better then the resigning of Williams. I think Eaves will be a great fit and will most likely play on the third line with the loss of Sammy and Huds it leaves some decent minutes to fill.
